Watch Van Halen Cover ZZ Top in Europe, 1993

by VHND — updated March 31, 2017 Leave a Comment

On this day in 1993, Van Halen kicked off the Right Here Right Now Tour in München, Germany (Munich in English) in support of their live double album Live: Right Here, Right Now and the accompanying video Van Halen: Right Here, Right Now – Live. It was the very first time the band played European dates with Sammy Hagar.

We just discovered the above video, and it kicks so much ass that we just had to share. A week into the tour, in Hamburg, Germany, and in the middle of “You Really Got Me,” the band transitions into a bit of “Fire and Water” by Free, and then into “Waitin’ For The Bus” by ZZ Top.

Luckily, some fan in Germany captured the performance with his video camera, which gives us a pretty high quality treat to enjoy all these years later. Watch the medley above.

In fact, watch the whole show!

The video below is the first song of that Hamburg, Germany concert. The band is certainly firing on all cylinders. It’s a fantastic show, and you can watch the entire concert one song at a time through the embed playlist below. Check it out! (Fast forward to 54 seconds into the video)

  • LarryLurex70 LarryLurex70 That’s an interesting thing for him to say. When I go see Maiden play, it’s not to hear Dickinson sing. But, he’s always been a hell of a frontman. Kinda like someone else I’m reminded of.

  • LarryLurex70 LarryLurex70 If it’s really 1986, it’s the year BEFORE anyone outside NYC heard of Flava Flav and Public Enemy’s debut album. As with the Vegas residency, Roth ahead of the pack as always.
