VAN HALEN NEWS DESK

Van Halen Album Rumored To Be Nearing Completion

The Van Halen News Desk (VHND.com) was the first to report last December that Van Halen were set to record a new studio album with Grammy Award winning producer John Shanks. In January, Shanks confirmed this via his Twitter account.

Today, respected Metal Show host, Eddie Trunk, tweeted that he heard gossip from a “reliable source” that the “VH album is close to done and will come out this year. Label TBD” This matches up perfectly with what we heard from a trusted source at the beginning of March – that the recording process is going great and the band is starting to mix the new tracks. Also, from another reliable source of ours today, we hear that this Fall is the most probably time that the album will be released and a tour will begin.

Get ready, everybody…the Van Halen juggernaut is gearing up!

Hey Motorscooter. You just opened the door for me to go way off topic so everyone can thank you for having to read through one of my ADD fueled rants. Soundgarden is also one of my favorite bands. I went to see Guns n Roses on the use your illusion tour at Madison Square Garden back in the early 90s and Soundgarden opened for them. I had never heard of Soundgarden before. Before the show I remember thinking who is this Sound

  • bbl70

Gardn at the garden? Anyway I was floored by the absolute jaw dropping performance by this band. Blown away is not even the word to describe those guys in concert.

  • bbl70

Oh, I almost for got to mention the chick I brought to the show. I had dated this girl for about three years and she was totally cool rock chick. The kind of girl who would lift up her shirt at a G n R show. Anyway we partied in Greenwich Village for most of the day and took the subway to the Garden tripping our faces off. Man ill never forget that night. The chick I was with was related to a member of Poison and whenever they came to town we used to get backstage passes and hang out on the tour bus and party with the band. Damn those were fun days. Now, you might ask? What does bbl do with his spare time these days? Let’s see… change diapers, homework, clean up after the wife, cook dinner/breakfast etcetc etc. That’s why vhnd is my only escape. I am thankful for you all and that’s not just the vapor talking.

  • Scott

Motorscooter… Please quit talkin’ ’bout love on this site. New music now, please.

“EVERYBODY WANTS SOME” NEW VAN HALEN MUSIC!!…

  • ikethebird

Wonder where this disc was recorded at?

  • http://claroweb wilfredvh

One more thing…even though the hair is short…that pic of Ed and Dave next to each other….looks classic!!..

  • No Mas Tony

    @ bbl70 —

great posts! Rock on my Van Halen brother.

  • Dooley

    Hey RothLeaps…

    Yeah, I’m a CVH/Van Halen with Sam/Chickenfoot/Red Head fan.
And I’m fine with that. And I don’t really get the “Chickenfoot is winning” position, either. Both incarnations of Van Halen (I don’t count the Cherone era) had/have their highlights and lowlights, I’m selective about it. You asked for an explanation, there’s mine. It’s a “big tent” at VHND, ya’ know. And that’s a good thing.

  • karloff

things i would like to see change on the Tour: IMO

Alex: change drum solo, no conga music. pleaseeeee
    Dave: no ugly jackets.
    Ed: Nothing
    Wolf: Move around more.

    thank you

  • Ted

@ motorscooter – It’t would be awesome if Chris would take over after sammy, he is my favorite singer. But still I don’t think Chris should fit in Van Halen, I just can’t see it. Soundgarden should open for VH on the next tour :)

  • http://none california dave

The Name of the Track: They call me Ed Van Halennnnnn:)

  • Crazies on my block

Has anyone besides myself heard the new album is going to be called ” Encore” ? I have heard for that last 2 years.

  • litledreamer

There was this interview of AVH (from a drummer magazine) where he said “Encore” was the name of the new album. I have a feeling that’s not going to be the name.

  • Crazies on my block

Yeah your probably right little dreamer, hopin’ Dave plays a part in this aspect of the band as he always did in the past. But to be honest I’m just excited cause our boys are finally going to release new music, it’s going to happen , I can feel it…..

  • litledreamer

To have a new album with Dave is a dream come true for a CVH fan so I really don’t care what they call the album as long as we get one! I also have a good feeling we’ll hear from VH soon.

Having said that, I think “Fair Warning”, WACF and “Diver Down” are cool names. “Encore” is a bit corny. I hope Dave will give it a cool name. Nothing sentimental.

  • adman5150

Great to hear The Mighty VH “may” be releasing some new material with a possible tour. If you are a true VH fan down to your bones, you need to believe it will happen at some point. It is easy to be a “fair weather” fan and talk smack about the band, but if you are a true VH fan it is in your blood, it is not a choice, it is not a want..but a need. The music grabs you, consumes you, and is then a permanent part of you. I will wait as long as it takes to hear his guitar pick cut through those strings like a chainsaw on jet fuel again. Bring it on VH !!

  • charlie

The best scenerio would be a double album. First album being unrealesed Van Halen. The second all new material. That would make every Van Halen fan happy.

  • karloff

just call the album: Van Halen

  • http://claroweb wilfredvh

THEY SHOULD CALL THE NEW ALBUM….”I HEARD YOU MISSED US..WE’RE BACK”….

  • CRAZYJ

Edward has always been the talent & driving force of VH, and it looks as if he has the desire to create great music again. I have a feeling that this ablum will please all VH fans. It is my hope that Edward can move past the negative energy being spread by Sammy and Michael, and focus on what he has always done best and that is being the most influetial and inovative guitarist since Hendrix. Eddie is a legend, Sam and Mike will be small footnotes in the history of Music, but Ed’s contribution to guitar playing will live on.

  • TearItUp

Still like the rumored “Encore” for the title of the new VH album. Hope Halen kicks it in high gear in the studio w Roth & makes up for those last 3 mediocre tracks w Sam on the BOBW album.

@RR, AMEN!! Up For Breakfast needs to be Flushed For Lunch!!

  • Sparks in ’11

Eminem used Encore for a cd title. I’d think of that Jack ass every time if VH used. Only title rumor I’ve heard was that Wolfgang pitched calling it Mammoth. Not bad. No More Waiting would definitley be most appropriate, though. As we wait……and we wait……..and we wait.

  • growapair

Roth ain’t gonna let this motherfucker out until it’s Goddamn good and ready. He knows what Eddie’s capable of and will let nothing but the best be released.Wonder what the holdup is on the new album?Roth bitches, not Eddie.

  • Towers McQuestion

That was mercifully quick. I cannot wait!

  • Crazies on my block

Another thing I read awhile back was they (Alex, Eddie & Wolfie ) were gonna rehearse for a few months before getting back with Dave to write new stuff . and one of the songs they were rehearsing was “Outta Love Again” , which brought a smile to my face cuz I love the way the van Halen brothers play their respective instuments on that one !!!! That song jams !!!!

  • Kayser Sozay

CrazyJ: “It is my hope that Edward can move past the negative energy being spread by Sammy and Michael.”

I’ve no idea what you’re talking about. By negative energy do you mean the truths coming from Sam’s book? Because I can’t figure it out. Sam and Mike are the only sources of positive energy to come out of VH in ages. See the RRHOF induction for a prime example of how VH works.

  • Matt L.

Album title: Incredible & Inevitable. Then we could all gush about the greatness of I&I! Could you imagine a double gatefold album of new tunes? Sorry, I got light headed for a minute. Somebody get me a doctor…

  • Warner bros wants VH back

My sources tell me the new album is called “I Could of had a VH!”.

    songlist :

    Komon Iwana lea
    Boiling strings (instrumental)
It’s about FrankenTime (The Waiting Blues)
    3/4 original and 1/4 inevitable
    How many said nay?
Don’t like the Tequila and hot sauce
    Hip and Hand Boogie
    Viva Las Vegas
    If it aint fixed…break it

34 minute album just like back in the day…

  • Ted

No More Waiting, that the best name, I hope they call the album that. You know what? All complaning about when the new album is gonna come out. We don’t want it to be made in a hurry and turn out bad? I’ll Wait. Til the album comes down :)

  • Scott

“Encore” sounds one and done to me.

  • dudensht

It’s gonna Rock! We havnt heard a peep out of Dave since the winter 07. Hes been singin and wrightin his ass off, keepin it quiet. They both know they had too “Bring It” for this one, and I bet they did! I do solemly swear that I will purchase this little round plastic disk!

  • Melton

    CrazyJ….Appropriate. The name that is.

  • F. Quiz, PhD

In keeping with the last =VH= album title with DLR, “1984″, it would seem appropriate to name the new =VH= album with DLR, “2011″ That gives the fans a timeline of the long wait for a =VH= album with DLR

  • karloff

sammy hagar is out of LINE with some of the stuff he is saying about EVH. I think it’s very disgusting what he has been saying lately on t.v. shows, etc. I must say that EVH has been quiet and taking the HIGH road on all this. so congrads on that I say.

  • Towers McQuestion

Speaking of titles, there’s really only one they need:

    “The Mighty Van Halen”

The capper to a career that started with Van Halen 1.

  • Hahahaha

    You might as well jump
    but
    I’ll wait :)

  • http://www.funkydom.com Funkmeister

It’s true. I heard it myself from a guy close to them.

  • Pinwheel

Album title I vote for: “Resurrection”.

Says it all in one word.

I am amped up for this! Totally amped up! Can’t wait! Front row seats on this one! Bring it!!!!!!

And……to everyone involved in the project:

    THANK-YOU!!!

  • CRAZYJ

    Melton says:

    CrazyJ….Appropriate. The name that is.

Melton, I am not sure what part of my comment was crazy

    1. Edward has always been the talent & driving force of VH, and it looks as if he has the desire to create great music again.
Not sure why you have an issue with this statement, even Hagar has indicated that Mike has poor work habits and was not involved in the song writing process. Eddie has been responsible for all of the song writing, which makes him the talent and driving force of the band

    2. I have a feeling that this ablum will please all VH fans.

THis is just my opinion, I still think Ed, Al and Dave have some great songs left

    3. It is my hope that Edward can move past the negative energy being spread by Sammy and Michael, and focus on what he has always done best and that is being the most influetial and inovative guitarist since Hendrix.

Writing tell all books about some of the lowest points in your “friends” life, is negative energy. And there is no other guitarist who has been as influetial and invoative since Jimi as Edward

    4. Eddie is a legend, Sam and Mike will be small footnotes in the history of Music, but Ed’s contribution to guitar playing will live on.

THis is a true statement. Edward has been a legend since the mid 80′s and is one of the most respected guitar players in history. He is mentioned with Clapton, BEck, Page, & Jimi and he paved the way for players like Vai, SAtch, Yngwie, Randy Rhoads, and Kirk Hammet. SAmmy is never mentioned as one of the top vocalists in history. Sammy is a great business man, but he is far from being a legend in Muic. Have you ever heard any singer say that Sammy was an influence on them? THe answer is No, but Ed has influenced millions of guitar players. Micahel Anthony is better known for his background vocals than his bass playing. It is clear to me, that the talent of VH has been and always will be Edward. All the other members were complimentary parts.

In the end Edward has influenced millions of guitar players, but I have never heard of a bass player, or singer say that they were influenced by Sam or Michael. Never

  • Adman5150

“We must be getting close Goose..I’m getting a hard on”. Ed has too much magic left in those fingers to not carry on. Think positive, If you are a die hard (not fair weather) VH fan to the core, you know it is almost time. It will be worth the wait to hear Ed’s pick cut through those guitar strings like a chainsaw running on jet fuel. Yeehaaa !!

  • titans5150

i hope this doesn’t fall through

  • Dax

ciao to everybody, a new Cd of course but mainly
i would like a dvd’s tour 2007/2008, because there is no one with David Lee Roth, no one with DLR, noooo oneeee with DLR WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????
    What do you think???
