While I’m on here today I would like to give some thanks to The Van Halen Store. I ordered the red/white shoes last week. That was my first order, and even though it was a small order I have since received two email updates from them about my order that have kept me posted on when the shoes will ship. It’s just two little update emails, but it makes a huge difference to me!

Wow, Sam and Chad and even Joe seem to be smokin – a lot of dope that is….. Chad looked like a homeless drunk, Sammy looked edgy and Joe (or the reasonable facsimile of him) was out there. Hell, when Mikey’s the sane one, and he’s talking to a bird, that’s something..

That said, Hell Yeah I’m looking forward to this. Got me a ticket to their Toronto show with a buddy and looking mighty forward to it. Liked the sound of the trailer music at the end too.

I think Chad is making a statement in this video…you have to be drunk to enjoy drumming to such painful lyrics! Most people are only going to see Joe shred on this tour anyways.

rockenvelop, you were onto something…Ed could fart in a mic and it would probably sound better than this. Sorry people but there’s nothing original sounding or groundbreaking so far on these few new tracks. Hopefully the rest of the album has something better to offer than this.

Did anyone have a problem with getting “fan club” tickets? I couldn’t upgrade my membership(for some reason-due to chickenfoot web site error?) to get presale tix for $50. Instead I attempted to get tix today when the tix went on sale to the public only to find out that all general admission seating is sold out and the only thing that is left is the $225 VIP tix. Suspicious? Sounds like collusion between Ticketmaster and Chickenfoot. What a scam!

Too many haters….VH hasn’t put out a decent cd since 95/96 and they haven’t done squat for their fans. I almost wonder if Ed crapped in a box some of these people will buy it. Actually….I don’t wonder. I would bet on it.

Ya know, I’m waiting to hear the whole CD before I decide whether this Chickenfoot project will work. In the beginning, I thought the plethora of Chickenfoot promotions was kind of cool, in a keeping-the-fans-updated kind of way. But after watching this clip, I’m starting to get the uneasy feeling that the hype is going to completely overshadow the actual product. I mean, how is watching four guys act like complete fools prove one way or the other whether this group will rock?

Seeing a clip like this almost makes me start to appreciate the Van Halen approach of don’t tell us anything until the new album drops.

In the meantime, I guess I’ll have to have my intelligence insulted with talk of buying crap in a box.

Karl, are you serious? Thinking that this sucks has nothing to do with being a VH fanboy. Believe me, there are millions of music listeners out there that won’t care for this either. Even if VH never existed, this still wouldn’t appeal to me, and that’s okay. If you like the music, man that’s awesome, but the defense “VH hasn’t put out a CD since yada yada yada” is so weak.

Look, I’m glad they guys are having fun. I was really looking forward to it myself. Heck, I have 2 guitars signed by Satch. However, from the three songs I’ve heard, I was really disappointed. It has nothing to do with Eddie or hating this person or that. I just think Sammy writes meaningless lyrics and the music is just bland.

Man, these guys get me excited! Capture the old Van Halen sound and bottle it up with a shot of laid back Sammy. Satch and Eddie pray to the same Guitar Deity; they have such a similar soulful sound. And Chad’s Drum are solid, but without the symbol smashing piazzaz of Alex. It’s finger licking good!

And by my opinion. All Van Halen is good. Dave is good. Sammy is good. Mikey is good. Eddie is good. Alex is good. And hell… Gary is good too. (First live concert I ever saw mixing the Best Of Van Halen by any Lead Singer of the band.)

So why all the hate for Sammy on this site?

Sammy has done his time. If you don’t like it, let it pass.

But I love all Van Halen.

And Chickenfoot is made up of a half of a band of a certain configuration of Van Halen.

Chickenfoot is now my “Alternate Universe” Halen.

And the music these guys make, the more Van Halen there is for me.

And that’s just a good thing.

Just face it, the songwriting resembles Montrose/solo Hagar at best. Chickenfoot is simply a vehicle for Sam and Mike to get more exposure, for Joe to broaden his market, and for Chad, to not have to take himself very seriously. In the process they might just have a little fun- but don’t expect Fair Warning or even Balance.

The truth:Van Halen is either going to release material with Roth that sounds very unlike the old stuff ( Hence the term ‘New Music’ ) ..They will have it out with Roth and hire a new singer ( Sammy or Someone else ) and release material that sounds very unlike the old stuff or They will release new material in about 12 years that sounds very unlike the old stuff. The guys here telling people to stop whining ( whether pro or anti VH )are very angry and bitter..and I don’t blame them because the irony is that they are angry and bitter while defending OR attacking Ed and Co. because of the very way Edward and Company have conducted themselves for the last 25 years. Wake up people and just smile.

I don’t know what to expect concerning a new VH album, but maybe with Dave on hand, the writing might reflect on some of that past greatness. With the recent track record though, who knows…..

Van Halen is releasing new material next year…don’t even try and say that they’ll fall apart again. Eddie is back and will stay until Frankenstrat electrocutes him and he dies a guitar gods’ death. And as for Chickenfoot…eh, I ain’t fond of them, but at least their doing what makes em happy. Good luck to Wolfie on graduation, good luck to Eddie and his lovely wife-to-be, and good luck to David and his crazy personality…and somebody please lock Alex in a steel box so nothing happens to him (the drummer always dies when a band is about to make a comeback). And to the rest of you, go out and listen to Dance the Night Away right now! Doctor’s orders!

I for one love the tunes and am excited as hell about the album and tour!!! It shows in the music that they don’t take themselves or life in general so seriously, and listening to it certainly gives me a nice break from the B.S. that I am sure we all have to put up with on a day to day basis!! THAT’S WHAT ROCK AND ROLL IS SUPPOSED TO DO!!
