David Lee Roth’s Painting To Be Auctioned For MusiCares Charity Relief

by VHND — updated January 22, 2023 Leave a Comment

David Lee Roth has donated one of his original paintings to the upcoming MusiCares Charity Relieve Auction to be held Sunday, February 5th.

From Julienslive.com:

An original painting by hard rock vocalist David Lee Roth, titled “Dark Ocean.” The painting, featuring textured brush strokes in black and white with a dot of red, has been executed in acrylic on canvas. Roth has titled, signed, and dated the work on the verso in black.

Roth discusses his inspirations and process in a 2020 New York Times article, stating that art “has been a constant in my life. My hand has always been in wardrobe, background sets, stage sets, album covers, video direction. This is part of it. And there’s craft involved, so there’s a little bit more heft to some of the statements.” He began exploring visual art when the COVID-19 pandemic barred him from performing, creating drawings (or, by his description, comics) and sharing them on social media. He shared “Dark Ocean” via his Twitter account on November 30, 2021.

Julien’s Auctions annual MusiCares Charity Relief Auction will take place live in Beverly Hills and online at Julien’s Live.
