David Lee Roth’s remaining summer tour dates have been canceled, with the exception of one scheduled appearance in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Sammy Hagar has reached out with a message for his fellow former Van Halen frontman.
News of the cancellations broke Thursday morning, with shows scheduled for Dillon, Colorado; Clear Lake, Iowa; Louisville, Kentucky; and East Moline, Illinois all canceled.
According to Roth’s official website, his August 7th appearance in Sturgis, South Dakota, remains on the schedule. No reason for the cancellations has been announced.
After hearing the news from Michael Anthony, Hagar posted a selfie video from home, drink in hand, speaking directly to Roth.
“Hey Dave, Sammy here. I just got a call from Michael Anthony as I’m sitting down having my favorite cocktail, and I don’t have to tell you what this is [smiles and hold up his margarita, undoubtedly made with his own Cabo Wabo tequila], about your tour getting canceled,” Hagar said.
“And I wanna say from the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry. I hope you’re well. I hope there’s not a physical problem.”
Sammy then offered some words that longtime Van Halen fans might not have expected to hear, praising Roth for being out on the road and keeping Van Halen’s music alive.
“Honestly, Mike and I love the fact that you’ve been out there doing it, supporting the greatest band in the world that we were both part of,” Hagar continued. “And, yeah, I’m really sorry. That’s fucked up. Supporting what we did in this band to keep this music alive.”
Hagar then summed up the irreplaceable chemistry and personalities that made Van Halen what it was:
“You and I, Mikey, Al, Ed, cannot be replaced.”
He encouraged Roth to keep going whenever he’s ready.
“So, when you’re ready to carry on, you go, brother. Mike and I support you.”
Then Sammy took things one step further, extending an open invitation for Roth to join him and Michael Anthony during his upcoming Las Vegas residency.

“Come to Vegas for the residency in September. Come on, join us. Sing a couple songs, MC the damn show. Come out and just do what the fuck you do, which is pretty damn entertaining.”
Hagar ended his message on a sincere note:
“Anyway, hope you’re well. I really do. God bless, brother.”
Roth returned to the stage in 2025 after several years away from live performing and continued performing shows into 2026. As of Thursday, his August 7th appearance in Sturgis remains his only scheduled date.
