The 90-minute concert video will premiere on Van Halen’s official YouTube channel at 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific Friday, giving fans everywhere a front row seat to watch it together in real time.
We’ve embedded it above, and we’re inviting everyone to crack open a cold one, and get ready to watch and chat together as it unfolds. As a YouTube Premiere, the video will go live at the scheduled time. Once the premiere ends, it will remain available to watch on demand.
Filmed in 1986 at the New Haven Coliseum, Live Without a Net showcases the lineup of Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony tearing through a set of mostly new material.
The performance captures the band in full stride following the massive success of 5150, so the setlist leans heavily on the new album, featuring songs like “Summer Nights,” “Get Up”, Love Walks In,” and “Best of Both Worlds” with earlier favorites such as “Panama” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ’Bout Love.” It also features one of Eddie’s most memorable live guitar showcases.
Longtime fans will recognize Live Without a Net as the definitive document of Van Halen’s 5150 tour, highlighting a moment when the band successfully reinvented itself while still delivering the high-energy show they were known for.
If you haven’t watched it in a while, this newly available full concert is well worth your time.
