Known to fans as the ‘Circles‘ and ‘Shapes‘ guitars, Eddie debuted these guitars to the world on the legendary FAIR WARNING tour in 1981.
Ever the experimentalist, these Fair Warning guitars varied from his previous builds in the composition of the woods used in the construction and body thickness. Also new was the implementation of the newly developed locking tremolo system, which was in its infancy as a new development in the electric guitar’s evolution. Eddie would be the pioneer and universal ambassador of the locking tremolo system, now a defacto commonplace in guitar design.
These guitars also represented a return to the use of white with black colors in their graphic design and a turn-the-corner evolution away from the strict use of line graphics to incorporate circles and shapes.
Eddie played the ‘Circles’ guitar on stage on his last tour with Van Halen in 2015.
