Jason Bonham had to exit Sammy Hagar’s “The Best Of All Worlds” tour due to an undisclosed family matter. Kenny Aronoff, a former bandmate of Hagar in Chickenfoot, covered for Bonham on Tuesday (August 27) in Cincinnati and last night (August 28) in Nashville. Two shows remain on the summer run. It’s unclear whether Aronoff will finish out the tour on drums or if Jason Bonham will return.
“Tonight I’m going to dedicate this to the Bonham family in England,” Hagar told the crowd before the band started his 1987 solo song “Eagles Fly”. “Hope everything works out OK over there, and to our brother Jason.”
Earlier in the Cincinnati show Tuesday night, Hagar revealed Aronoff flew in at 6 a.m. that morning and spent the afternoon rehearsing with the band. “If it wasn’t for Kenny we would’ve canceled,” Hagar told the crowd. At the end of the concert-closing cover of Van Halen’s “When It’s Love”, Hagar gave a special shout-out to “the man who saved the day, Kenny fucking Aronoff.”
