There’s a new cover of Van Halen’s “Jump” and this version’s got David Lee Roth up.
About a month ago, solo artist Alex Melton recorded an “Acoustic Alt-Pop Indie Rock Cover” of Van Halen’s number one single from 1984. Today, Roth showed his approval by uploading a video featuring Melton’s version, which you can see above. In it is archival footage of Roth and his late friend Russ checking out the sights of New York.
Over on his YouTube channel, Melton had this to say about the recording:
“We all know the iconic synth line, but I had never really given this song a proper listen all the way through until I decided to do this cover. I loved the idea of slowing the verses waaay down and letting each line breathe, while keeping the upbeat pace of the prechorus intact. I love the layers that pop in and out, and I’m really digging my new shooting methods that allow me to do longer takes with video. Hope you enjoy!“
