Sebastian Bach joined Michael Anthony for a live performance of Van Halen’s ‘D.O.A.’ Monday (December 11th) in Las Vegas. It was part of a set of classic Van Halen songs Anthony performed at the House of Blues in Las Vegas for DJ Eddie Trunk’s 40th anniversary concert.
Bach, who donned a classic Van Halen T-shirt, preceded the performance by telling the audience the story of how he almost joined Van Halen in 1998.
“Doc McGhee had a meeting with me about joining Van Halen,” said Bach. “But Van Halen was concerned ‘cuz I smoked pot! But the thing is…I learned to smoke pot because of Van Halen!!!“
Joining Anthony and Bach are drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, The Winery Dogs) and guitarist Jason Hook (Flat Black, Five Finger Death Punch, ). Prior to “D.O.A.”, Anthony sang lead on “Somebody Get Me A Doctor”, and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love”. Earlier he and Sammy Hagar got in a Hagar-era Van Halen song with a performance of “Poundcake”.
