Sammy Hagar is set to feature as a special guest on a forthcoming Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute album by the band’s ex-drummer, Artimus Pyle. In anticipation of the album’s upcoming release, their rendition of “Simple Man” has been released.
The collection titled Anthems: Honoring the Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd is due on Feb. 2, and features a number of marquee collaborations between the Artimus Pyle Band — Pyle (drums), Scott Raines (guitar/vocals), Jerry Lyda (guitar), Brad Durden (keyboards/vocals), and Dave Fowler (bass) — and various music legends, among them Dolly Parton, Warren Haynes, Ronnie Dunn, Lee Brice, Michael Ray, Chris Janson, Billy Ray Cyrus, LoCash, Jerrod Niemann, Marty Raybon, and Lindsay Ell.
Hagar first performed “Simple Man” on October 11th, 2022 with his band The Wabos and Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell at The Cabo Wabo Cantina. Below is video of that performance.
