What is Van Halen’s best album? Popular opinion would say Van Halen’s ’78 debut. Others may say it’s Fair Warning or 1984. Some may go with 5150. But For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge? There is one fan who says it is.
Author Martin Popoff hosts a video podcast called The Contrarians. The title speaks for itself. The theme of the podcast is to hear from those who tend to oppose popular opinion. Popoff invited guest host Jamie Laszlo on to rank all 12 Van Halen studio albums and his #1 pick is 1991’s For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.
Although For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge garnered praise critically and was a huge commercial success (a #1 album, 3 x platinum ), it’s not often you’ll see fans and critics place it at the very top of the list. But, as you’ll see in the video above, Laszlo isn’t giving us the “Runaround”, he tells it like it is. He’s a one-man “Man On A Mission” when explaining why he placed For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge above Fair Warning and Van Halen on his list.
So, does Laszlo deserve to get “Spanked” or is he right? How would you rank Van Halen’s 12 studio albums? Let us know “Right Now”. Actually, watch the video first then let us know what you think in the comments section below!
