Sammy Hagar’s 73rd birthday is today and we thought we’d share a video that not only recognizes The Red Rocker’s birthday but also honors the legacy of Eddie Van Halen.
Below is a complete performance of the 1991 Van Halen classic “Right Now” by Hagar ‘s band The Circle including Michael Anthony. The clip was recorded on October 8th, two days after the day Eddie passed, following rehearsals for Hagar’s annual birthday celebration on Catalina Island.
Hagar requested a moment of silence from his band mates and the audience prior to starting the song.
“We’re about to do a very special song that means a lot to Michael Anthony and myself,” Hagar said. “So I would like to ask for just a quick moment of silence, please. And you know why.”
As the piano intro began Anthony shouted out, “This is for you Eddie we love ya!” while Hagar pointed to the skies.
