Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony brought back some good-time Van Halen memories for Howard Stern and his listeners yesterday when they performed the 1988 classic “Finish What Ya Started”.
Sammy Hagar & The Circle featuring bassist Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson appeared on the Howard Stern Show to promote the release of their upcoming album ‘Space Between’ (due out May 10th) and tour. Before performing “Finish What Ya Started” Hagar told Stern the story behind the top 20 Van Halen track from the ‘OU812’ album. It all started at 2 a.m. one morning while Hagar had just “started” something he had yet “finished” with a woman. That’s when his then neighbor and bandmate Edward Van Halen came knockin’.
“He’s throwin’ pebbles, bangin’ on the [window] and I’m going, ‘Ed, what?!’ He’s goin, ‘C’mon down man!’ I came down with my guitar and we sat outside on the porch…and we wrote the damn song,” said Hagar. “I went back upstairs and wrote the lyrics about basically what happened. I’m like, ‘C’mon man, shit man I’m ready to go and everybody was asleep.”

Hagar & The Circle also debuted a new track from ‘Space Between’ called “Can’t Hang” on Stern’s show. The entire interview and performances can be heard on Sirius/XM who is also giving listeners a chance to win a trip to L.A. to see Hagar and the band perform live. Go HERE for more info.
Note: VHND & Van Halen Store are moving to a larger office/warehouse this week. It’s a huge process, but needed! We won’t have much time (if any) to work on VHND for the next few days. So please understand if we don’t have much new content until next week. Thank you!
