The video above is without a doubt one of the best “Eruption” covers we’ve ever heard!
Guitarist Mike Mike Himmel tells the VHND, “I’m a lifelong Van Halen fan. Eddie has continued to be a constant source of inspiration after all these years. I’ve always wanted to uncover the mystery wrapped in a riddle with his style and tone.
“The 40th Anniversary of Van Halen’s 1978 debut album is coming up. So I covered ‘Eruption’ in honor and tribute to the Master of the six string for all the years of endless inspiration I’ve received from his guitar playing and music!
“Choosing to cover ‘Eruption’ as accurately as possible was not only an immense challenge, but a lifelong bucket list item that I choose to undertake. I wanted to nail both the tone and feel, no easy task as the millions who have tried and fallen short and can attest to. I can only hope that I’ve done it justice in some small way. It’s just me paying a personal homage and saying thanks to the Master himself, Edward Van Halen.
“Van Halen’s debut was released in 1978 to critical acclaim. This is a tribute to the Master six string virtuoso Edward Van Halen. I produced edited and recorded all of video and guitar work.”
