Happy New Year, Van Halen fans! As we start 2018, Van Halen continues their regularly scheduled hiatus between tours…
But there is this piece of news — there is a new Van Halen documentary in the works. It’s being produced by a British company. They have already interviewed Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar, and they’ve contacted Eddie Trunk about an interview, and possibly having him narrate it.
Two days ago, Michael Anthony posted a photo on Instagram from the taping of his interview, and added, “Filmed an interview today for a Van Halen documentary in the works. Brought up many great memories! I’ll let you all know when it will air. Cameraman John on the left worked video camera on our monsters of rock tour with AC/DC in Europe!!” (Above photo).
Sammy Hagar “liked” his post, and commented, “Yep, these guys were great, feels like a good doc so far.”
It sounds like it’s not official, so don’t expect Ed, Al, Dave, or Wolf to be involved. That said, we’re very interested in seeing it, because we’ve always enjoyed all (well, most!) of the unauthorized Van Halen documentaries and books which have come out. There was ‘The Van Halen Story – The Early Years’ DVD in 2003, and great books such as Greg Renoff’s Van Halen Rising, Noel Monk’s Runnin’ With The Devil, both of Neil Zlozower’s Van Halen photo books, etc.
Below, listen to Eddie Trunk talk about the upcoming documentary.
