An impressive cover of Van Halen classic’s, “And the Cradle Will Rock…”, was performed by Sons of Apollo this week, which can be viewed below.
Sons of Apollo is the newly formed progressive metal supergroup who confirmed they’ll release a debut album this fall.
The brainchild of ex-Dream Theater members Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian, the band sees them join forces with Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big, David Lee Roth) and Jeff Scott Soto (ex-Journey, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force).
Produced by Portnoy and Sherinian, their debut record ‘Psychotic Symphony’ will be unleashed on 20th October via InsideOutMusic/Sony Music.
Watch their cover of “And the Cradle Will Rock…” below. The fan-filmed footage is from the band’s live debut Tuesday night, August 1, during “Ultimate Jam
Night” at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood. The event honored Adrenaline Mob bassist David “Z” Zablidowsky, who died in a recent tour accident.
Additionally, in the video below, famous keyboardist Derek Sherinian from Sons of Apollo demonstrates the intro of “And The Cradle Will Rock…”’ on his Wurlitzer 200A:
