Let’s get to more of Eddie Van Halen’s music from The Wild Life! Here’s what we call “Strike,” a short but sweet guitar track from the 1984 movie The Wild Life. This has never been heard in full until now. (This track was only played for a few seconds, as someone in the movie bowls a strike at a bowling alley).
Our guess is that this piece might be one of the first recordings that Ed & Donn Landee had ever made with the Steinberger guitar. The trans trem bridge on a steinberger has a very distinct tonality/sound.
More exclusive tracks on the way! The Van Halen News Desk will be releasing most of Ed’s music from The Wild Life film score throughout the coming weeks, via our Van Halen Vault youtube channel (subscribe here). These are the full, raw tracks that Eddie recorded, before they were edited for use in the movie. These complete tracks have never been heard anywhere before! So stay tuned, track #11 is coming soon! (Others we released so far: “Out The Window,“ “Top Down,” “Back To School,” “(Nearly) Good Enough,” “All Fired Up,” “Peeping Tom,” “Fashion Dynasty,” “Love Song,” and “Driving Song.)” Listen to all of them on our ‘The Wild Life’ page.
