Watch ‘Dinner At The Van Halens’ – the Classic ‘Saturday Night Live’ Skit

31 years ago tonight, Valerie Bertinelli appeared on Saturday Night Live. Her then husband, Eddie Van Halen, accompanied her to the taping of the episode. Eddie wound up not only jamming an instrumental with G.E. Smith and the Saturday Night Live band, but performing in a skit as well.

The skit, entitled “Dinner at the Van Halens'”, was a humorous poke at a typical evening meal at the Van Halen household, complete with roadies frisking the guests, screening phone calls, and causing more chaos than order.

Valerie and Eddie play themselves, having a nice dinner with their guests, played by Phil Hartman and Victoria Jackson.  Kevin Nealon, Dana Carvey, and Dennis Miller play the obligatory Van Halen roadies.

And guess what? We’ve found the video, which hasn’t been online much at all since the dawn of the internet. Watch it below.

The original air date was February 28th, 1987, a few months after the 5150 tour.
