The all-Van Halen podcast “Dave & Dave Unchained” has released episode #3.

Dave&Dave_Unchained_Van_Halen_Podcast

Dave & Dave Unchained heads into its third episode with their first guest, “Van Halen Rising” author Greg Renoff.

Sure, sure…all you jaded VH fans are saying, “Heard him already on another podcast!” or “Read the book, what does he have to say that’s new?”

Well, this conversation is unique. First, the Daves dissect Renoff’s unique approach to creating his book, then they go behind-the-scenes of his research, such as his journey finding VH engineer Don Landee, capturing the feel of the Pasadena scene, locating VH’s original keyboard player, and even what Greg left out of the book.

But, that’s merely an appetizer. Once they get deeper into the woods, the trio analyzes the tug-of-war relationship between David Lee Roth and Edward Van Halen, DLR’s current role in the band, Ed’s buck wild Billboard interview, whatever happen to the “secret project,” the state of VH’s legacy, a possible reach out to Michael Anthony and more…it gets deep folks. Things got so entrenched that 40% of the discussion had to be held over to next month for a big July special on a specific topic (to be revealed at a later date). They even open with an analysis of David Lee Roth’s recent comments on the future of the band. So strap on your lobster bib and break out your shrimp fork ‘cause this one is gonna get messy.

About the “Dave & Dave Unchained” Podcast: Van Halen fans, it has finally arrived – a podcast exclusively about The Mighty Van Halen. “Dave & Dave Unchained” focuses on everything in the world of VH, plus the solo careers of its members. This monthly show covers every era of the band through album discussions, exclusive interview segments and more.

The show is hosted by two friends named Dave – David J. Criblez, a music journalist for over 30 years, has interviewed every member of VH with the exception of Wolfgang and has contributed to ‘The Inside‘ Van Halen magazine and Van Halen News Desk; David A. Marcone is his college roommate who shares the same passion for the band. Together they have seen multiple Van Halen, Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth shows around the country for over 20 years including hanging with the band backstage and with Roth in clubs and even on his tour bus.

“There’s never been a band that has such a unique and intriguing history as Van Halen,” says co-host David J. Criblez. “Our goal is to explore all the twists and turns they’ve taken over the past 40 plus years.”

Co-host Dave Marcone adds, “Not only do they have great music to talk about, but let’s face it, there’s no shortage of drama with this band!”
