TODAY Van Halen is shutting down Hollywood Boulevard for a epic free concert TONIGHT! Jimmy Kimmel Live has booked the legendary band for a concert that it will be taped and air over two nights—tonight and tomorrow—March 30 and 31st. Surprisingly, this will mark the group’s first U.S. television appearance with David Lee Roth! (The tickets were all given out already…no more tickets for the event are available).
The Kimmel date will be a warmup for the band’s 38-date North American tour, which they just announced last week. The band also has a new live record out tomorrow. Tokyo Dome Live In Concert is Van Halen’s first concert album with Roth, who left the group in 1985 and rejoined 22 years later.
The Tour will last three straight months, kicking off July 5 in Seattle, WA, and hitting nearly 40 cities by the final date—Oct. 2 in Los Angeles at the historic Hollywood Bowl. The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band will be joining in support. Tickets will go on sale April 4 with special pre-sale information being announced locally.
And that’s not all! After their stint on Kimmel, the band will also perform one song on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this Thursday, April 2, so look out for another epic and memorable performance.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” will air Monday and Tuesday at 11:35 PM ET/PT on ABC.
VHND.com will be featuring video of tonight’s concert as it becomes available later tonight and/or tomorrow.
Below is a brief video of the rehearsals, posted by Wolfgang, and photos of Alex Van Halen’s massive drum kit, posted by son, Malcolm. Killer stuff! (All originally posted on Instagram).
