“Light Up The Sky” Recorded During Soundcheck

by VHND — updated July 19, 2013 Leave a Comment

As a bonus for fans who have purchased VIP tickets, Van Halen has occasionally been letting VIP ticketholders into the venue early to watch Al, Ed and Wolf soundcheck.

During a recent soundcheck in St. Paul, the band suddenly launched into “Light Up The Sky” a fan favorite from Van Halen II hasn’t been performed in concert since 1980. Recognizing this rare opportunity, one fan risked being ejected from the venue and stealthily recorded the song with his phone. The visual in nothing but his EVH Sneakers, so just enjoy the audio of this rare performance!

By the way, Wolfgang’s background vocals sound fantastic. This is an incredible piece of music, so hopefully they will work this up with Dave for the second leg of the Tour!
