Two books we’re sure you guys are gonna want to know about:
First up is “Everybody Wants Some: The Van Halen Saga,” by Ian Christe, a noted rock writer who also penned “Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal.”
Pictured above, the book is a hardcover that tells the band’s story from childhood up through events as recent as 2007. It’s available now from the Van Halen Store. (The store is also offering a free downloadable version of the book’s first chapter.)
Meanwhile, back in January, we told you about “Van Halen: A Visual History, 1978-1985,” a hard-bound photo book featuring the work of renowned rock-and-roll photographer Neil Zlozower. The book was originally due out this summer, but was pushed back until Nov. 7.
As described by the Van Halen Store, the book features “live, session, candid and backstage photos from Zlozower’s behind-the-scenes perspective, along with testimony from the rock pantheon paying homage to the band, including members of Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, Kiss, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, along with band insiders such as original manager Marshall Berle, producer Ted Templeman, Pete Angelus, Eddie Anderson, Dean Kramer, and many more. And the Foreword has been penned by non-other than David Lee Roth!”
The VH Store is currently taking orders for copies autographed by Zlozower himself.
