Michael Anthony—you know, the happy-go-lucky, fan-friendly, well-adjusted, ex-Van Halen member whose bass-playing, on-stage presence, stellar background vocals and overall energy helped make Van Halen the great band it once was?—has posted a new entry at his blog:
Hey everyone! I thought I would post a little update as to what I’ve been up to. Last Fri. one of my dreams came true as I got to jam with three fantastic guitar players, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Vaughn! It was for an event here in L.A. at the Peterson Automotive Museum, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the ’32 Ford. I’ll have pictures and a writeup all about the event on my site hopefully this week. In the meantime you can also see a couple of shots on Jeff’s web site: www.jeffbeck.com.
On Sun. I surprised Sammy at the NASCAR race, where he played a few songs before the race. I jumped up to sing a little on “I Can’t Drive 55,” which was televised before the start of the race. Next I’m looking forward to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on Mar. 12, then I will fly down to Puerto Vallerto to meet the cruise ship to jam with Sam’s band (The Wabos). We are working on a few older VH songs, and I’ll be handling all the lead vocals … WATCH OUT HAGAR!! I’m looking forward to bashing it up a bit with all of you on the cruise! Check out my website for all the info, and I’ll be talking to all of you real soon … Michael
Well, at least someone is planning on playing some live Van Halen tunes.
