Guitar World’s “morphed” Eddie Van Halen cover
When Guitar World’s March 2007 Eddie Van Halen cover story hit newsstands three years ago, some fans thought that the picture of Eddie looked strange or unnatural and that perhaps some major Photoshop work had been done to the picture. They thought that Ed’s face might have been superimposed over a different shot of his [...]
Mad Anthony’s Hot Band and Hot Sauce (Part 1)
From BryanReesman.com:
by Bryan Reesman
Michael Anthony certainly enjoys himself. He’s played in and toured with one of the biggest bands in rock and roll, Van Halen. He has his own hot sauce brand (Mad Anthony) and owns an outrageous collection of cars and bass guitars. And he’s still successful, currently playing with his ex-VH bandmate Sammy Hagar in Chickenfoot, the power quartet they formed with guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Their self-titled debut album has sold over a half million copies in the U.S. They have a live DVD on the way and a second album in the works. Life is good.
Despite all of this success, the veteran rocker, father and hot rod aficionado was one down-to-earth dude when ADD sat down to chat with him. While I needed 20 minutes or so to chat for my “Eat, Drink and Rock & Roll” story for Grammy.com, Anthony gave me an hour of his time. And he was very forthcoming about his career, his hot sauce business and the positive path he is taking in his life.
So you’re taking a break from Chickenfoot right now?
Well, not really a break. We’re finishing up working on a DVD that we’re putting out [soon]. We filmed
The strange case against David Lee Roth
From The Morning Call:
The strange case against David Lee Roth
Divorce suit targeting Van Halen’s former lead singer is one of many filed by Allentown woman.
By Kevin Amerman Of The Morning Call
May 9, 2010
Rock singer David Lee Roth has been a puppet, pirate, a poet, a pauper, a pawn and a king, according to his 1986 hit “That’s Life.”
One thing he’s never been, according to his publicist, is married to Jo Ann Fonzone of Allentown.
But for the past four years, Fonzone, acting as her own attorney, has been trying to divorce the former lead singer of Van Halen in Lehigh County Court. And, because she can’t afford it, Lehigh County has waived the filing fee.
Roth is one of 18 defendants Fonzone has targeted in nearly two dozen lawsuits, complaints and appeals in federal and county courts since 1997. Those suits have claimed countless hours from judges, lawyers, clerks and defendants. And because Fonzone doesn’t have much money, some have been filed at the expense of counties and the federal government. In only two cases has Fonzone been successful.
“When [the clerks] see her, they all want to run,” said Susan Bloom, Lehigh County’s chief deputy clerk of

Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill coming to Atlantic City
Sammy Hagar is opening another Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill in Atlantic City this Memorial Day Weekend.
“I give all the money away to charity, so it’s not like this is some big business venture for me,” Hagar said. He also added, “We do have a dress code. Anyone who shows up in a jacket and tie, we won’t allow them to sit down.”

‘Foot’-notes from a fan: Cabo Wabo 20th Anniversary Bash!

Here’s a story that’s fitting for Cinco de Mayo – a full report from Cabo by Darin Bristow, who attended the 20th anniversary of the Cabo Wabo Cantina, April 22-24. Darin conceived and directed the animated video for Chickenfoot’s “Get It Up.”
Cabo San Lucas is pretty damn hot folks. The sun shines there about 350 days out of 365, and at night when that great ball of fire dips behind the famous arch of Land’s End, it only gets hotter. It was never hotter than the 3 tequila-soaked nights of April 22, 23, and 24th, as these days marked the 20th Anniversary of the famous “Cabo Wabo Cantina”. For those of you who have made the trek, you know what kind of off the chart party’s can occur when Sammy appears unannounced and tears up the stage for an awestruck crowd. Redhead and VH fans know to expect the unexpected as countless rock icons have shared the stage with Sammy over the past 2 decades. I myself have taken the long road to Cabo twice, but each time sadly missed the ‘Wham of Sam’. My first trip I missed him by a day. My second trip I actually missed him TWICE in one week! ( Can you believe that??? ) But as they say, the 3rd times’ the charm. Rightly so, for this trip was a going to be a little extra special as this time around I was actually invited to witness Sammy and Chickenfoot rock the house as thanks from the band themselves for conceiving and directing the animated video for “Get It Up”.
Let me tell you- ROCK THE HOUSE THEY DID. Here are some Cantina hi-lights and some special “fanecdotes” from this amazing 3 day rockstravaganza.
