Chickenfoot gets animated this Sunday night on Adult Swim TV:

Joe, Chad, Mike and Sammy step into the very strange world of Aqua Team Hunger Force this Sunday night on Adult Swim TV. Check out the episode of “I Am a Pod” in which Shake orders what he thinks is an Ipod, but turns out to be seeds to grow a Pod (a la Invasion of the Body Snatchers). The Pod is a huge Chickenfoot fan and ultimately gets to meet the band at one of their shows, turning them into aliens, and hence they take over the world on their tour.

After being reminded of V.O.A. I had to look up that video on Youtube. HA HA, man it’s funny watching it now. If you haven’t seen it and you’re an old Sammy fan you should watch it for entertainment purposes. It’s so cheesy now, but I still love it. Lmao, it’s great. Sammy’s wearing the jumpsuit but it’s the yellow version. Haha, he would always switch up his outfits from red and yellow. Seeing it now reminds me of being a kid and watching all of those old rock videos on MTV. Sammy also wore that yellow jumpsuit in the “I Can’t Drive 55″ video and it’s equally as humourously cheesy as the V.O.A. video. (They probably made ‘em on the same day. lol)

I think the root of all the critisism Ed gets is he (and VH) are not contemporary anymore. This Adult Swim (what the hell is this anyway … is it a show) thing is the kind of spin-off stuff that happens to something current. The 2.5 Men thing just screams ‘living on your past’, as glorious as it was.

Ed is either unwilling or unable to rise to the occasion one more time. Nothing wrong with that, but it is what it is. Newfound sobriety can be a double edged sword. You feel empowered on one side, but scared and a bit doubtful on the other. If I had to choose one thing for him to be successful at (new material or staying sober), it is not even a contest. One Day At A Time brother.

IMO, Hunger Force is the most retarded show on tv. Even if I was stoned outa my fucking mind I couldn’t find that shit funny. Since it’s an animated show, they can put whomever the hell they want on anyway, they don’t even need permission. (Anybody know if they are really doing the voice overs or playing any of their music on the episode?). Maybe it’s just me, but this is more of a diss to the group than anything else. Mike looks like a tool; Sammy is even cheeseier looking than his 80′s videos. (I’ll agree with Panama Red that they were entertaining though), Satch looks like a chemo patient. (like he normally does, I guess). And I’m a skinny, white bald dude too so no disrespect — Just sayin! Chad’s cartoon persona is the least goofy looking. Anyway, is this “cool”??? Only in the sense that it shows that these guys don’t take themselves too seriously to let their images get shit on by appearing in this redonkulous cable show. Good for them! (I think?)

Panama Red, you were saying in another thread about CF proving their validity as a new rock group. I agree 110%. To come out with a stellar concert tour playing their entire album tracks with no =VH=, RHCP or Satch solo was probably the way to go at the time. I was listening to F-U-C-K cd on my way to work thinking damn, since there’s no way in hell the current adaptation of =VH= will ever play any of these songs again, my fingers are crossed a couple make it in the next line up. The Hagar decade of Halen spawned some stellar hits… “poundcake”, “summer nights”, “runaround” – now that CF has defined their inimitability in the world of rock, seems that breaking out some of these in the line up WOULD rock! Anyway, can’t wait for their next concert and album. I know it’s going to be even better than their last. That’s one hell of an accomplishment!

DIRTY DUCK, was mentioning the Strummin with the Devil CD in another post, I was one that kinda dug it – and here’s why: I picked it up knowing it was off the cuff, a bluegrass / country style cd –- so when I didn’t hear the typical rock sound from Roth, I knew it was him just goin out on a limb, mixing it up a bit. Roth is cool in that he’s not intimidated by trying something different. Good or bad. I normally hate country, but the version of I’ll Wait is really cool. And like Roth’s version of Jamie’s Crying… Jump did sound too forced against the fiddles though. Not my favorite.

One more note on the awesomeness of Roth. Ok, so yeah, he can’t hit all the notes. But like it’s been said time & again, he has that raspy soulful voice that oozes coolness. I’m sure once his contract / gag order is up with the brothers we’ll hear another studio release. Rumor mill states that a DLR cd is already 75% done.

As a general note, can’t the Foot do something without people trying to shit on =VH= ? Not to jump on the band wagon. I know a lot have been chanting the same thing… for real though, I love ‘em both. Eddie VH: man, praying for your health, dude. I’m sure you don’t actually read or care about the posts on here. But even us assholes (myself included), really DO care about you and want the best for you & the fam. Doesn’t hurt to just say hello and let us know you’re still alive. Damn, just call up Howard Stern and say hey –- hand is healing, life is good. Not sure on the music thing, creative block whatever. I don’t care dude. I’ve given up on a new album, but not everyone has; so you have a lot of people in Limbo sick of waiting… I don’t need a cartoon version of you standing by a meatball and milkshake. Just want to know you’re in good health or say a prayer if you’re not. (just throwing that out for the wifey that’s rumored to be on this site from time to time).

Adult Swim is what Cartoon Network calls their block of programming after 10pm. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a :15 show. The first couple of seasons were hilarious…after that they just got kinda weird…Nugent has been “on it” as well as Danzig. Also Neil Pert was in the movie.

iwannaberr – I remember how Sammy used to talk about mountain biking but I didn’t remember him having his own “Red Rocker” mountain bike, maybe I just forgot.
I still have an old promo leaflet for his Red Rocker -Gatorz sunglasses and there’s a picture of him on the cover holding a red mountain bike over his shoulder, so maybe that’s it, I don’t know, huh?
That reminds me, I need to get around to selling some of my old Van Halen and Red Rocker stuff on e-bay and other stuff too. I still have a pair of those Red Rocker-Gatorz sunglasses that I think I wore like maybe once or twice in the early 90′s along with a bunch of other stuff in my storage space that I should probably finally part with.

Canes fan – it’s not the same thing because CF is doing what the fans want – making music. This cartoon thing is a silly aside. Nobody would be critical of Ed’s appearance on that show if he were active. It would just be a bonus for the fans.

Check out blabbermouth.net, The Foot will start recording next month, according to the Red Rocker!!! Sammy didn’t say when they plan to finish and release the new music, but it’s damn good to know that there is new kick ass Rock N Roll on the way!!!!

Chickenfoot trumps Van Halen.
Virtually every song on the one Chickenfoot album is a hit. Chickenfoot songs are played on the rock stations all the time. Seems like every hour, one of their songs are playing. The one thing I don’t like about Chickenfoot is that their songs are played too often on the radio. Too top it off, they are appearing in a cartoon. That must have taken so much time and energy to transform themself from real life to cartoon. That my friends is doing what the fans wanted. We the fans have been begging for years to be on a cartoon. I wish Van Halen would learn from this.

I’ll be watching on Sunday. The foot rocks! Seeing Sammy tonight. It’s his first solo show since touring with Chickenfoot. The guy just keeps on workin/rockin.

No Mas Tony – I share your sentiments about Eddie’s health as do lots of other fans I’m sure. I’ve read some other posts here from regulars expressing their concern too. More than anything I want Eddie and the rest of the guys in VH to be healthy. Thinking about Eddie’s health made me realize how unbelievably tragic it will be when the day comes….I don’t even want to say it, seriously.

All I know is, is that I want Eddie, Al, Dave, Mike and Sammy to be healthy and happy and making great rock and roll. I wish those guys could live forever.

And maybe that won’t happen. So fkn what, life rolls on. Maybe it’s time you bust your guitars and start your OWN band and get on on with it.
