Chickenfoot to play Cabo Wabo’s 20th Anniversary celebration

From Chickenfoot today:

The boys will be helping Sammy celebrate 20 years of the Cabo Wabo Cantina down in Cabo San Lucas April 23-24th, 2010 and want you to come join them!

Sammy is inviting everyone who has ever been there once to be there twice and make this the most fun ever had in Cabo!! The foot plays Friday and Saturday, but the party starts on Thursday. Like Sammy’s birthday bashes, tickets will be FREE and *first come, first serve* (No advance purchase). So that’s three nights including two free Chickenfoot shows, so that’s the why, where, when, so come on down and let’s Wabo!!

He closed one in the US I believe, but I would be shocked if they closed the actual one in Cabo while Sam is alive, that is the flagship cantina.

The ones in Vegas and Lake Tahoe are still open, I believe. He closed the one in Fresno CA. Never been there, but I’d like to go.

Keith, I’ve been there many times. Gotten to know several people who go each year. I don’t know anyone that travels to Cabo, that hasn’t gotten in if they wanted to see a show.

How much money do you think the Diamond got for Reunion Tour? I bet there were a few caveats to Dave’s deal (1)You will tour as a member of VH if; (2) You tell all media we are a band going forward…period! The band doesn’t want to answer the firestorm of questions we all have it’s easier to say “were a band stay tuned”. it let’s the band of the hook to answer anything!(3)Ed reserves the RIGHT to change member(s) at his descretion.(4) No guarantees Dave would be the man on upcoming tour(s).

I would of thought Dave would have come forward and said something about the VH machine, good or bad. Dave loves, loves, loves being the front man in VH…someone track him down and get a video up on You Tube.

Was at the Cabo Wabo in the early nineties when all of
=VH= still had a piece of it. Cool club!Would love to have seen any incarnation of =VH= play there. My sister saw Sammy play there a few Spring Breaks ago. Said he was awesome.

ONLY ONE CABO HAS CLOSED AND THATS THE ONE HERE IN FRESNO. THIS IDIOT DEVELOPER HERE TRIED TO RIP OFF ALL THE SUB CONTRACTORS AND NOT PAY THEM. Regardless of how anyone feels about Sammy, it is indisputeable that he is one of the smartest business men in Rock n Roll! I don´t think that he has to worry about dying broke like so many other celebrities.

I mean let´s be honest a lot of these stars or former stars end up basically having to work regular type jobs like the majority of the general population. Ask Dee Snider of Twisted Sister what it was like delivering packages on a bicycle? Of course Dee was able to make a comeback! Thank God for that!

For Ed, recording a new album with Wolfy will be one of the next best things to playing together on tour. You can bet that they are going to release new music and are probably taking their time and enjoying doing so.

They do not care about restless fans wanting stupid useless updates. Maybe they should care, but they don’t.
When you think about it, who really cares about all the useless crap. Let me know when the new album is out. Let me know when the tour is. Meanwhile, live your life like they are doing.

The newest music concerning Van halen will be in cover form from santana’s new album he is working on with all covers: Dance the Night away featuring Pat Monahan from Train, Creams Sunshine of yoour love featuring Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 and some others lets hope this sets up some VH news!!!!

dlrevhsh: I wouldn’t get too excited. I just checked the CHEZ 106 website and under “news” there is nothing about a VH album set for a December release and a tour. What you heard is just verbal and not sourced very well. Would be great if true… but this little verbal buzz on its own is not credible.

According to all the “experts” that make themselves known on this site, Van Halen will not have any new music in 2010 because it’s the middle of March. There is no way anything would develop between now and 9 1/2 months from now.

To be fair, who gives a crap if its Wolfie’s birthday? He’s exactly 2 months younger than me…celebrating his 19th isn’t exactly like celebrating Eds 55th.

I think going to Cabo would be amazing. Its weird, Sammy put out a Gold record with Chickenfoot and it was heralded as an amazing album. Eddie could definitely put out a Gold record with Van Halen if he just gave the fans a chance – if so many people pre-ordered the Chickenfoot album (it was the best ever pre-order on Amazon in its history) then what makes Eddie think all his fans will download it? The majority of Van Halen fans had to buy the VH albums as there was no way of getting them (I doubt even VH3 surfaced on the internet upon its release).

If Edward makes the album enticing to the fans (heat sensitive artwork was a bit weird, I’m thinking include some picks or do what Biffy Clyro do, put a number of Golden Tickets inside albums so a few lucky people get to go to an intimate gig with them). That way, more people actually purchase the album. I just don’t understand it, is all.

But hey, I’m not Van Halen’s marketing manager, so hopefully they’ll actually release something this year. If not, I’ve got 10 great albums to go back to. Life goes on.
