Cf rocks and so does Vh we just need a new Cd from The king come on Ed what the FKN hold up we heard about the 2010 tour allready and no word on a new CD

  • Keith

Sounds like Andrew wants to join the GLBT crowd.

  • TheTruthHurts

    Hey ANDREW:
Making fun of the way Sammy & Mike look in defense of Eddie is like Hitler condemning a jay-walker for being a filthy law breaker.

  • ben

I can’t believe people like this song.
anyways if you like CF congratz, but to me it sounds like a high school band.

  • StevieB

Watching Mikey sign stuff in the second video, I didn’t know he was a lefty!

  • Karl

I wish I’d gone to your high school…

  • FAMAC

I can understand why people like CF, but this is easily their worst song. The melody and lyrics Sammy chose over this twangy middle-eastern sounding lick just destroy the entire vibe. “Inside is outside” – I mean, come on – its such tripe.

I also like the way Sammy rips off some of DLR’s singing syle trying to end each verse with a little squeek at the end like Roth used to do.

  • andy

Ben : I agree with you. I like the guys, their abilities and intentions, but…you said it…

  • andy

I really wish Chickenfoot-Satch would be less of a humble team-player and play more in the style Solo-Satch; we’d get lot’s of imaginative atmospheres with some grade-a rock-singin on it. There’s plenty of bands doing powerchords in 4/4th’s, but few pushing the envelope…

  • Canes_fan5150

Did anyone see that Ed is going to be on the Guitar World cover with Tony iommi on Nov. 17? I think Ed is trying to get as much publicity as possible so people remember how great VH was with Dave. Then they will put out a new cd and outsell the CF debut by 9.5 million records and make it 3 diamond albums.

  • TheTruthHurts

Like their last studio album did?
(Can you hear my eyes rolling?)

  • Canes_fan5150

I believe their last studio album with Dave sold over 10 mil.
(he is their lead singer ya know)

  • phillster

    I like that prediction Canes_

  • Grover

For those who hate the fact that a Van Halen News Desk is putting out info about Chickenfoot, I can only say…

When Van Halen actually makes some news, I’m sure you will see it hear.

A guy just can’t let a website rot… Oh, wait, that’s what Van Halen has done with their offical site.

  • Ron

Whatever your thoughts on Sammy & Chickenfoot, you have to admit he’s in pretty good shape, both physically and vocally, for 62.

I saw Roger Daltrey’s solo show a couple of weeks ago and while he’s looking pretty fit, he can’t hit the higher stuff like he used to. Sammy’s still belting it out.

  • Pete

VANICIONADO: this is the best quote I’ve seen here in a while. No matter where you stand, no one can argue that us VH fans are a long-suffering bunch. Here’s what Van-Man said:

    “Hold out for new VH…

No hold out for new CHICKENFOOT…

It’s like being the junky to two different types of drugs.

And although I can go shoot-up the old dose, I’d much rather go freebase on some new shit.

We suffer greatly because of the music we enjoy.

Of that, no matter what, we can all agree.”

    Well said!

AND…I’d love to see Dave get back with Vai. He won’t though, unfortunately. Vai doesn’ have an interest in that, and Dave can cash bigger cheques with VH. For that privilege he’ll even be quiet, so sadly, its all about the $$$ despite how cool that would be. (Billy & Steve were bad mofos…except for that damn keyboard player they took on that tour and the outrageously fast drum tempo in concert, that band rocked!)

FAMAC – Dave hardly invented squealing in rock and roll music. I understand some of you are die-hard Dave-fans and that’s all you know, but saying Sammy’s squeals in “Sexy Little Thing” is a because of Dave is rediculous. Have you ever heard of Janis Joplin? Robert Plant? Steven Tyler?

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read on here in a while. Your limited range of musical reference makes your point of view comical at best.

  • phillster

Canes_ is Right!Ed`s got HIS favorite version of this band now. After the Cherone debacle,=VH= basically disapeared for a decade.Sammy stayed busy doing GaryGlitter covers&grabbing Mike any chance he could,While the VHbros flip-flopped over dealing with Roth&Sam as their singer.ROTH WON.
CHICKENFUT was on “THAT METAL SHOW” Saturday,Sam Said He`s
Done with =VH=,so I can see why VHGAR fans are so convinced
CHFT is the ONLY thing left of thier favorite band now&forever. So Now whenever ED shows up on T.V. or in a Magazine,They feel either threatened or depressed & Lash out
with ridiculess gripes.Kinda`like bitchin` bout an X-girlfriend cause she`s at the same party as you.
    infantile.
Ed`s done more “press”these last 3 months than in the last 15yrs combined. The last tour showed the “execs”they can still deliver&that there are More fans than X-fans.
Just because they don`t play jeff spicolli`s B-day party anymore, doesn`t mean they suck.

  • Canes_fan5150

And Ricky van whalen you are way wrong. 2 out of the 3 songs Ed has put out in the last ten years are way better than this. The only reason up for breakfast isn’t is because the absolutely terrible lyrics. The music is pretty good on it though. Sammy has lost his ability to write. It’s been spotty since for unlawful but is completely gone now. His voice is good for 62 though.

  • Adrian

PHILLSTER BAHAHA RIGHT ON SPICOLLI’S BIRTHDAY HAHAHAHA

  • DBDlives

Was it me or did Satch sound and play like crap??? Dont get me wrong, he is a damn good player but to be honest, on this song, he sounded like SHIT.

  • Scott

Enough Chickenfoot, enough tone deaf pot heads thinking they are great. Mediocre at best! Please STOP!

  • Scott

Can Satriani stare at something other than the fret board all the time? Boring!

  • http://www.murr-vegas.com Drew Collins

It seems to me there are two different points of view. Those who like to listen to music, and those who play music. I am a musician and can really see many holes in some of the aforementioned statements. Yes, they play down a half step. Maybe for the voice, but if you play a lot of guitar, you know that tuning down eases the tention on your hands. For those of you who are expecting magic, it comes and goes. It isn’t something you can package and mass-produce. It is art. You can either like it, or not. You don’t like the way someone plays or sing on a SINGLE LIVE PERFORMANCE? That’s what you get for judging a band or artist on just one performance. Trust me, I’ve had shit nights where people praised me, and I’ve had great night where nothing happened. It’s art. It’s music. It is a form of communication. If it doesn’t speak to you, then it might have been meant for someone else. I hear VH, and it speaks to me. I could be in the worst mood ever and hear “Everybody Wants Some!!” and I’m cured. Likewise, play me “Plain Jane” by Sammy, and I’m a happy guy. Give a little dose of “Future In The Past”, and I’ll show you a smile. They all communicate in a way that some music just won’t ever be able to. So let’s put down all of our pettiness and realize, it’s either your thing, or not your thing. Besides, it could be worse, our heros could just flat out quit. What would we have to look forward to then? Just keep all this in mind….

  • Karl

Wow, the VH or die guys are really taking this one up the arse. Sorry guys, but the only reasonable thing to say in all of this is “No more slack Brothers until you come up with the goods”. Say what you like but there’s one overriding fact that you can’t get away from: OVER A DECADE OF INACTIVITY. Produce a CD and I’ll be the first in line. Blow us out of the water an I’ll be the first to sing your praise. But until that happens and going on current evidence (no, getting yourself a Twatter account isn’t it) any betting man would be unwise to assume anything other than Van Halen is dead.

  • Rich

    Right on Drew!

As for people thinking that Hagar fans lash out at Eddie publicity…thats not right. I mean, Chickenfoot are a lot more motivated than Van Halen are right now, and sometimes I feel that those who love to bash Hagar see songs like this and can’t wait to start bitching about it, bad lyrics, shoddy guitar playing, whatever. The facts speak for themselves. Sold out shows, a Gold record, all from 4 people who don’t do this as a hugely serious thing, they all have their own bands. I think thats impressive, especially if you remember that Van Halen III, with the band still popular and after a great album, also went Gold. And that was from the hand of Eddie himself.

Its easy to bash, but its also easy to say that I’m going to look forward to anything new that Van Halen does. I have a preference to Sammy but that doesn’t mean my Roth albums get any less airtime on my ipod. While I’m waiting for some news or new songs from the current incarnation I think I’ll enjoy a bit of Chickenfoot.

  • Ferdnand

Mike, come back to VH or rest in peace.
Sammy and Gary news? No, thanks.
This is VAN HALEN NEWS DESK.
If there’s no news about the band, much better to post old and original stuff about VAN HALEN.
I’m sure there’s a lot of material about Dave and Eddie in magazines and websites.
Honestly, give a sh#@*t on what’s up with the old fat Sammy or the freaky and scary Gary.
What we need is VAN HALEN news and articles, that’s it.
    Thanks.
    From Brazil.

  • David St. Hubbins

“The facts speak for themselves. Sold out shows, a Gold record, all from 4 people who don’t do this as a hugely serious thing, they all have their own bands.”

This is getting a bit ridiculous – they are playing theatres and clubs – not arenas or stadiums. Their record sold 500,000.00 copies – OK, since when is that an accomplishment – platinum minimum to be respectable. I bet you Van Halen played to more people at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont than CF played in 15-20 dates on their small clubs and theatres “tour”. And lets not count the big festival in Europe they played at – they were just a smaller band amongst some heavy hitters like DMB that played there.
I am happy for Sammy, Mike and the rest – but let’s not make them bigger than what they are.

  • RickieVanWhalen

Cane – I don’t disagree with you dude. Nothing CF has written compares to anything EVH put out in the past 10 years (including VHIII).

  • Grover

I guess there are some of you who whould like this site to go to sleep until Eddie finally decides to release something.

If it has to do with a van halen member, past or present, it belong here.

  • Fair Warning

Well, put St. Hubbins. I’ve been saying the same thing for months.

  • BTD

    Mike is all class!!!!!!!!!!

  • BTD

Play or SHUT UP!! Go CF!!

  • Pete

“The Net’s Best Source for Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, or CHICKENFOOT News”.

If you don’t like hearing about Chickenfoot, good luck. They are the coolest thing to happen to rock in a long time.

Otherwise, hope that VH can put something together a CD rather than EVH Gear. Otherwise, there will be plenty of recycled VH news from 10 years to read.

But get used to Chickenfoot. It’s “news”. I’m sure if VH does something that it will be covered in it’s glory here. In the meantime, don’t begrudge the Foot for doing things that bands do…like release music, tour, get their fans excited, etc.

  • sweethomecabo

FMAC….Yeah i’m sure Sammy set out to “copy” DLR. So I guess now any singer who ends a verse on a high note is copying DLR? Please, stop with this nonsense! Really Sammy trying to copy DLR, anyone with half a brain cell knows that Sam has been and is still able to outsing Roth without even trying. I dig the Roth era, but seriously even when I was a 13 yr old kid I knew Roth wasn’t singing. Sammy weather you like him or not has- range, sings in key ( yea He like all singers ahs bad nights. You try singing everyday in that style and let us know how your voice is )and has tone. Dlr is DlR, Sammy is Sammy neither one is trying to copy the other. Enough with the comparisons!

  • Tony

Plenty of whining from Eddie KoolAid drinkers. Those that are attacking the Foot’s appearance and only selling 500K plus albums are really a mess mentally. Eddie Van Halen does not have his teeth folks! He has had so much work done that he is bionic Ed! Posts about the way a 60+ year old musician looks are childish at best. Those that attack the shows that the Foot did this summer are also mental midgets, they sold out with very little radio support and with no covers of previous VH songs. 2009 was the year of the Foot and it was also the year that the jealous Eddie KoolAid Club of America was launched.

  • Al

I’m loving this Chickenfoot! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
So when are you guys coming to Australia?!?!?

  • Bluesbro

    Tony says:

… 2009 was the year of the Foot and it was also the year that the jealous Eddie KoolAid Club of America was launched.

That is the root of it Tony, I agree. Some can’t stand that Sammy and Mike have been able to be a part of something so good after being ousted by Ed. And I won’t pretend to know something I don’t, but it would not surprise me if Ed is scared to put out anything new. It seems like his ego could not stand the thought of putting out new material, and have it pale in comparison to CF’s stuff … or to VH’s earlier quality.

That, and that fact that Eddie is WAY past his prime imo. Just from some of the recent youtube stuff, Two and a half men, etc … the decades of partying have taken its toll. It is hard to believe that Satch and Eddie are essentially the same age. You’d think Joe is 15-20 years younger, both in looks and quantity and quality of new material released in the last 10 years.

I am glad Eddie has straightened out, and is seemingly happier. But I fear the damage is done already. I suppose he could have become another rock and roll tragedy and OD’ed along they way. Thankfully he did not, and has found some peace in his life.

  • steve

Dreams and creativity do not die with age as long as we are the benificiaries of great rock from talented bands just shut up and listen! Mick Jagger looks like an eighty year old woman in tights but he still packs stadiums and he still gets panties thrown on stage!(big girl panties but panties none the less!!)I dont care if it’s Ed and Alex Or the Foot I’m tickled SHITLESS that some of the greats from my youth still KICK ASS! I love em all (beats the hell outta Rapp and grunge!) And Im proud to say my 15 yr old is a big Maiden fan! Just ENJOY it people and stop comparing! (and tell your local Rappers to pull up their pants!!!)ROCK ON DUDES!
