Video: Chickenfoot’s Summer tour

Some video highlights from Chickenfoot’s Summer 2009 tour:

  • RickieVanWhalen

I just wanted to be the first one to post a comment.

  • RickieVanWhalen

Turning left is a cool song. Satch rules and Mike seems pretty happy. Hagar still has cool sounded voice. Too bad when he talks all I can do is laugh. “55″ on the back of his shirt… PLEASE.

  • phil

very cool. can’t wait for the universal show on the 28th!

  • Ross

Sam…love the t-shirt and license plate!

  • SCAR

RickieVanWiener, Too bad when you post, all I can do is laugh and laugh and laugh at YOU putz!!!! Get your man pad on Gomer!!!!! I just wanted to be the first one to respond to the lame comments you made!!!!! You can’t drive 55, because you ride the bus everywhere – gee that’s very Rock N Roll isn’t it!!!!

  • Bluesbro

The quality of the Turning Left video is amazing. As I said in a recent post, Chickenfoot kicks ass and takes names … and then kicks the hell out of ‘names’ ass too.

Their concert DVD will be epic.

  • fiestared

lol 5150 plate next to the kit in turnin left

  • VH Fan (except of GC)

I still can’t get over the fact that Sammy Hagar is 62 years old. That blows my mind watching these videos. I think he’s right about what he said in an interview I just read: he’s gotten better and more confident with age. This Chickenfoot project is awesome and I hope there’s more albums to come. Plus, I hope it lights a spark under Eddie and company to release some new material. It was awesome when Dave Mustaine would always try to outdo Metallica……..it would also be cool if Eddie now tried to step it up now that Sammy has really put out some kick ass music.

Another rocker of a similar age that I like is Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. However, Sammy’s energy is way more constant and contagious than Ian’s in concert.

  • ben

The groupies video had more attitude than this.

  • GirlChickFan

Hey guys I know I’m late in the game here but I just discovered Chickenfoot a few weeks ago. My girlfriends took me dancing for my 21st B-Day to the Saddle Ranch in Universal City near the Gibson Amphitheatre. They played what seemed to be a dance mix of the song “Sexy Little Thing” I asked the DJ and he told me about these guys and how they are playing here in a couple of weeks. I ended up buying the CD and although I am not really into heavy hard rock music, I have to say that I really liked this band and found myself enjoying this music. My favorite songs are “Learning to fall” “Sexy Little thing” & “Future in the past” : ) Ciao – Aileen

  • Bocephus

    Aileen..

    Welcome aboard.

Van Halen and all of its green shoots are simply the best around.

    Period.

Sam Gary Dave Eddie Mikey Wolfie and Al.

    Beauty and The Beast.

  • VH Dude

Wish there was a full concert DVD with video like the Turnin’ Left clip, and audio like the Bad Motor Scooter clip. Check out sammy with the OU812 shirt! Good to see he’s proud of those days with VH and not writing them off.

I agree with VH Fan…hopefully CF will inspire Eddie a little bit! Would be good for the fans on all sides.

  • Bocephus

    VH Dude..

    Well said.

I heard a fan gave him the t-shirt prior to the show…

As gritty as Sam can be on the Past..

It hurts him to know he was such great friends with Ed and Al and the wheels fell off..

He knows it and actually Ed knows it too..

The Future actually may wind up speaking to the Past.

    Hah!

Go get em. It has been a great run. And it ain’t over yet.

  • http://michaelquinn.com.au Michael

Right Here Right Now, Eddie is Tweeting…

Right Here Right Now, Chickenfoot is playing in front of fans and making new music…

  • http://youtube.com/vhlvr imcrossingover

I was at that Chicago concert, right behind the guy. I got some good video/pics too. Too bad the camera quality for video is shit. =/

  • Bluesbro

VH Dude … supposedly they are filming on this tour and I’m sure there will be a DVD ready as a Christmas stocking stuffer.

I had to laugh at Satch on the drums and Chad on the guitar in the BMS clip. And when Chad looked like he was going to go Pete Twonsend on Joe’s guitar and smash it in the ground, I cracked up. He seems crazy enough to try it.

  • Rocko

Still as Crazy as they ever was. Chickenfoot up your asses bitch!!!!!

  • mjc

    KICK ASS!

This music should be timeless, simply because some of it sounds current, some of it sounds like every great song written before it, and some is just what we all need right now… a band to show all the other bands what it is all about. The fact that a 21 year old girl heard the Foot playing in a club blows my mind. The fact that this music, these songs, aren’t being lost on the younger crowd just proves my point. It should be timeless. It certainly holds no barriers. I know guys who listen to only country music, but aren’t ashamed to jam out some AC/DC or Kiss. Why them? I don’t know. But it looks like Chickenfoot may very well have that crossover potential. There will always be those who have to compare this to Van Halen. I get that. But why does no one compare it to anything else? Because they can’t. Van Halen was just the obvious choice. There is only one song on the whole album I would even dare compare to VH, and that’s “Oh Yeah”. So, while I can’t stop the CF/VH connection, I can at least make the point that at the end of the argument, they are nothing alike except in instrumentation. There is room for everybody out there, and if Ed wants to get something going, I’m sure he will. But I don’t think he would ever feel threatened to step up his game because of CF. I think he would know the same thing I know. They are two very different vehicles. It’s like asking which one of your children you love the most. You just can’t answer that. You just love them both. Long live Chickenfoot! Long live Van Halen! See ya in Cabo!

  • garysamuelroth

The performances of Turning Left and Bitten by the Wolf are frickin’ amazing. I’ll buy the Blu-ray…

  • Pete

I can’t wait for this DVD! Wow…ass-kickin’ music with a sense of humor…wow…reminds me of what I always loved about VH.

BOCEPHUS…I couldn’t have said it better myself.

FAVORITE QUOTE OF THE MONTH – SCAR:

“You can’t drive 55, because you ride the bus everywhere – gee that’s very Rock N Roll isn’t it!!!!”

SCAR…you crack me up man. Well said…

    Have a good one everyone,

    Pete

  • RickieVanWhalen

What an angry little boy. Scared for life no doubt. Click.

  • Pete

    HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!1

  • stephan chartier

    Plain and simple Chickenfoot rocks

  • BTD

    “we go round in circles”…nice!

  • VH Dude

Bluesbro…I was at the free concert at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any filming other than when Satch filmed the crowd at the end of the show (sounds like he does this at all shows). But maybe there was some filming going on somewhere that we didn’t see. Would be very cool to see some footage surface on a DVD someday. It was an outdoor show and they projected the CF logo on the front of the RRHF – very cool.

Bocephus…Who would have thought that Ed would team up with Dave and tour and (hopefully) record a new album after so many years? Although Ed seems to be writing off a portion of VH history (that so many fans have fond memories of) I bet someday we’ll hear the sammy catalog again. I just hope it doesn’t take another 22 years. Would be nice for the original fans to be around when it happens, but we’re not getting any younger! Until then, I’m hoping for some new music with Dave and a kick ass tour. Would also be nice to see some old video footage and unreleased studio/demo/live material released too. The fans deserve it and a lot of it exists. As cool as the Frankenstein shoes are…I’d be so much more excited to hear about unreleased audio/video.

  • Jor-L5150

i think it would be cool if the format for VHND was changed a bit-

for example, MAJOR updates would be the top-banner headline and little things like retro clips and interviews with alumni would be in a sidebar.

this way, the crybabies would look atthe front page and see what the headline is ( which would typically reamin unchanged- but always a major news item ie: tour dates, recording sessions, new dvd etc etc ) and the sidebar could have more frequent updates about the peripheral things ( ie : old clips and alumni stuff )

so- we could keep up to date on chickenfoot, mike, sammy, gary, producers, etc AND maybe the windbags would get off thier period

  • VH Dude

Jor-L5150: I don’t mean any disrespect to you man. I’ve had the same thoughts about the format too. But personally, since there is NO real VH news these days, I like clicking on VHND and finding the fluff and filler. It’s usually fun stuff, even if it is non-news. To be honest, all of the fan reaction (positive and negative) is entertaining.

I don’t think the VHND should cater to a handful of dickheads that don’t like Sammy. Let’s call if like it is: these jackasses don’t particularly have something against Chickenfoot, they just don’t like Sammy. That’s fine and they are entitled to thier opinion. But they act like pricks every time an article is posted if it isn’t about VH. And they just can’t seem to understand that this site would be a ghost town if it we were all waiting on VH news (cue the chirping crickets…). I’m glad that VH fans have harsh words for the haters when they race to thier keyboard to be the first to diss Sammy/Chickenfoot/Gary etc. The world would be a better place if these guys would leave mommy’s basement and finally get laid.

I hope the day is coming soon when we will start getting real VH updates and real VH news. We’re all waiting for that and it’s going to be exciting times when it happens. Once there is a regular flow of REAL Van Halen news, I would agree with you 100%. At that time, it would be appropriate to dedicate the homepage strictly to VH only, and have a sidebar of some sort with all of the related Van Halen stuff. You are right Jor-L5150: these guys are crybabies and they will continue to cry until they get thier way. I hope the VHND stands thier ground and refuses to give them what they want.

  • Pete

JOR-L5150…I can’t decipher exactly what it is you’re trying to say. ???

  • Jor-L5150

    right on VH dude.

    pete :

very simple – format the page like a newspaper.
with 3 out of 4 coulms being the main- BIG headline. save that top headline for MAJOR announcements. BIG stuff. like tour dates for VH:IV tour 2010. or the release date for new records dvd’s.

then- to the side of that, the fourth of 4 columns, is a sidebar for news that is peripheral to VanHalen ( IV ).
interviews with alumni, new t-shirts,oddball youtube clips – that sort of thing.
stuff thats “new” and peripheral to van halen but not necessarilly about the current lineup.

    its a win-win.
the haevy coverage is for major things and a sidebar covers ma’s tatto.

    follow?

  • Bluesbro

Hey VH Dude … this is a cut and paste from the Chickenfoot site news area.

    Aug 28 2009
    Alert: Atlanta Being Filmed!
That’s right– the Atlanta gig on Sunday is being recorded and we want to let everyone who is coming out know that they may be featured in a future DVD release. So if you’re there, let us know you’re in the house!

  • kayser sozay

Yeah but we’d still have to go to that fourth column to hear anything about VH.

  • RA 8 1 2

Cant we all just be thankful that there is a site dedicated to VH and anything related? And not just any site, but one that is well kept up. This site has always been about VH and its Alum. Chickenfoot is part of the Alum so it is part of it. Even as much as I did not care too much for the Cherone era, it is nice that VHND.com is putting Gary on the site with little news bits as he is part of the Alum and VH history.

  • SCAR

Hey RickieVanWiener, do you make your dates pay for their own bus transfers????

  • ROB5150

Wear the t-shirt OU812 and put the plaque with the inscription 5150 at the base of the drums … what do I have to think? maybe signs of peace? I think it’s hard. It’s true, it hurts think that once upon a time they were like brothers.

  • phil

    well said VH DUDE!

  • dlr

I think SCAR ought to post an address so he can get hiss ass pounded in the ground for the rude comments he makes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion without having to listen to a what seems to be 16 year old blasting everything that is written.

The stuff posted today is great. Sam looks happy and so does Mike. Good to see the shirt and plate up for fans to see.

Last I checked, SCAR was an ass of a lion on the Lion King. Fortunately he was killed at the end.

  • SCAR

No shit, well said VH DUDE!!!! Hater’s are you paying attention???

  • Dooley

    Right now…

Die hard fans are thinking how neat it would be if the Chili’s regrouped and CF was the opening act.

    Right now…
the same fans are also thinking about VH touring again with CF as the opening act. (Sam wearing the OU812 tee=way cool)

Can’t we all just get along? Just a fantasy, not a prediction.

  • RA 8 1 2

I saw a Sammy show a couple of years ago and he wore the OU812 shirt. So it is not a recent thing.

  • SCAR

dlr, I’m sooooo scared!!!! Do you feel all manly now tough guy? What a Gomer!!!!

  • SCAR

dlr, now I’m laughing at you tough guy!!!!

  • jrod 2009

do you think the next VH album will be called VH 4 ?

  • SCAR

dlr, can you finish what ya started? If not, I can!!!! I’m still laughing at you tough guy!!!!

  • dlr

    SCAR,

I can finish if you will leave the info on where to find you. If not, let’s move on.

  • http://none J5149.5

I gotta hand it to scared.Your speeches got sass and spunk! With a touch of pizazz!!not the most macho or manliest talk i’ve ever heard but very sassy in a perez hilton kind of way and i mean that scared. Now man up vh hater.Vh dude, i like sammy and mike and i agree with bocephus’s statement that sam is hurt by the vh split.I question the reasons in which he formed chickenfoot other than just a good time but if you guys rock out to them so be it.I get the whole chickenfoot experience thing and so forth and i’ve said there is some good stuff on there but classic vh melts steel imo.

  • SCAR

They won’t post my address, but your a smart, right tough guy? I’m in NYC and I’ll give you a hint (it’s an MC club)! If you can find me I’ll make sure my brothers won’t do anything until I’m done with you!!!! Come and get me!!!

  • SCAR

dlr, I’ll give you an advantage I’m already drunk and I’ll continue to get my buzz on to give you a fair chance!!! I’m still laughing at you tough guy!!!

  • dlr

    SCAR,

Grow up and post something specific about the material posted on this site. I know you as a fan have it in you.

  • dlr

I actually agree with most of what you said about that Dan Russell dude the other day. I wish he would chime back in. I take it he is not a fan of the Foot.
