Hey you Van Halen, Hagar, Roth and Chickenfoot fans, I DJ here in Massachusetts, and me and a couple of other DJ’s the other night ask a college crowd of about (200) individuals if they knew of Van Halen and only about (35) raised their hands.
Then we asked if anyone heard of Sammy Hagar, and we got a response of about (50).
Then we asked the crowd if they heard of the song “I Can’t Drive 55″, well every hand in the place went up (200).
Then we asked about the song “Jump” got about (75)hands.
Then we asked about David Lee Roth and only about (10) hands.
    Then we asked about.
Then we asked about the song “Dreams” we got a response of about (100).
Then we ask about the band Chickenfoot and got a raise of hands of about (65).
    So, their are the results.
We also played songs from that era or during the question to help in the decision.

Oh, and another thing during this survey the average age of the crowd was about 18 – 22 and we also asked if anyone knew of Wolfgang Van Halen and Michael Anthony. about the same amount each (15).

  • Bluesbro

Do that survey about 6 months after the VH Guitar Hero comes out and the VH recognition will be much higher … at least with that demographic.

Hey, good point about that, but it will have to be asurvey about Van Halen, we did it with Led Zepplin, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and Bad Company(again both versions of bad company).
But Van Halen was the most lopsided of the 6 classic bands we tested. And us DJ’s love Van Halen and Van Hagar.

Asking “this” generation to raise there hands if they know VH….dave….sammy….cant drive 55…dreams…etc is flat out dumb.

Of course these kids arent gonna know half the shit they’re talking about. They’re 18 thru 22 for christs sakes.
This is the same group of people who think miley cyrus is a “rockstar” and that lil’ wayne is the best rapper in the world.

    Gimmie a break….
