European Vacation - Chickenfoot Style
Posted: July 9, 2009
“Hey everyone!! I wanted to give a quick shout out here from Europe on my
day off. We’re having a blast out here and the shows have been off the
hook - we can’t wait to bring the party back home in August!
I’m sure you’ve all heard about Chad hurting his arm out here - the boy
gets too CRAZY onstage! Anyway, he’s doing just fine, and by the time we
hit the states, he’ll be back to his 100% bashing self!!
In the mean time, check out some photos I put together from the tour. And
to all the European fans that have come out to the shows - you guys
rock!!” - Mad Anthony

Great to see Mikey and the boys (lower case…because there is only one true set..Ed Al Sam and Mike)…that being said.
Love to see the pics and updates from the road.
Thanxs Mikey.

I agree with swade.. I grew up listening to VH & get into all of it.. Whether it was Dave, Sammy, oR even Gary… These guys ROCKED!!!!!!! But they have been quiet for too damn long. Lets all stop bashing CF & enjoy..

Great to hear from Mike. Love Chickenfoot. I am still holding out hope for a VH album. I don’t see anything stopping them. I believe it will be soon.

Does Sam own any T-shirts other than Cabo Wabo shirts?
Looks like they’re having fun and the music is decent but still no comparison with Dave and VH.

Mr. Positive Energy. Michael Anthony = Music and fun!

I’m so sick of business vernacular like “shout out” and “off the hook.”
I also find it totally irritating that instead of saying they can’t wait to play for you, its “bring the party to you.” Is this a music group or a circus? My mom would call Mike and Sam a couple of good time Charlies, and its not meant as a compliment.
That being said, I do think the Chickenfoot record is better than any Van Hagar record because the songwriting is more cohesive and back to basics. By the end of Van Hagar, I would guess Sam was preety much given a finished track to sing to which doesn’t really prompt the best performance. Kind of like asking Dave to sing Me Wise Magic, a tune in Sammy’s registar.

sammy also owns chickenfoot shirts.
thats it!
he is a walking billboard.
at least the album rocks.

Chikenfoot airlines … lol. I’m sure being a part of the CF roadshow does not suck at all. Looks like they are having a blast.

Is it possible to stop comparing EVERYTHING to VH! Love VH but I am enjoying CF for what it is- good music-I like the album!
We will be very lucky if VH does any new stuff, DLR will piss EVH off and it will be over. EVH’s heart is not in doing new music-if it sucks that will be on him and he does not want to tarnish his legend.

Cool Pics! Thanks M.A.

Just wondering if the setlists were the same every night? I know they talked about mixing it up but that’s what all bands say. Please post if anyone knows. Thanks

I was originally not at all excited about this venture. Now, despite my feelings on Sammy’s predictable lyrics, I cannot stop listening to “Chickenfoot.” Great music. My try to see them in Chicago…..

Mike looks like he’s lost a few pounds & is in great shape!! Great to see him onstage in front of large crowds doing what he does best, looking happy and healthy and playing his ass off!!ROCK ON MIKE!
July 14th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
JROCKS, You right, there is no comparison, Sammy was way better than Dave with Van Halen
July 15th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
hey clubfootkolby, 2 great bands and 2 different bands. do you agree?
July 15th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
two different bands…and now three different bands with lineage that EVH would deny.
Go CF

One band kicked ass….was raw….original…in your face….unforgettable.
The other band turned pop….made no impact (oh yeah….”Right Now” really changed my life! Please…)
They became too serious…..and now you can buy all the cd’s with “that other singer” USED, ranging from 99cents to 3 bucks!
No comparison at all. Classic VH will always be the best!
July 16th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
hey ducky/dirty duck, who wrote the music for the pop band your talking about? i believe he said he wrote all the music a couple of weeks ago in an interveiw on this sight. to me music is like porn just enjoy it. it doesn’t have to change your life.
July 16th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
I guess we had three great bands, I just like the Sammy version the best, all of the bands had great songs and shows.
July 16th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Mike and Sam’s only problem is that everyone will compare them to VH. At least there are 2 giants from the VH family still recording music and giving the fans something to listen to. The album is great, it’s not VH but I don’t think it really was intended to be a VH record.
July 19th, 2009 at 9:54 am
Track 10 of the Chickenfoot cd smokes but no so much the rest of the album. It’s too bad they didn’t gear the album more in that vein. Satriani is really the only reason to see this group live in my opinion. I bet the only reason the red tellatubby formed a new band, Chickenfoot, is because his ego got bruised after the success of the Roth/VH tour…also he finally must have realized his solo stuff (Waborita) had become so tired, weak & wasn’t selling anymore.
If Halen ever drops a new album with Roth it will bury this Chickenfoot album man…guaranteed!
July 20th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Why is it that every person who comes on here bashes or compares Chickenfoot to Van Halen? Seriously why?
To me there is no comparison plain and simple. Van Halen USED to be a band and Chickenfoot is one.
The problem here is that Chickenfoot delivers, Van Halen sends out empty promises. If Eddie gave a shit, there would be music.
It’s too bad that Sammy and Mike grew tired of it and left. What’s Van Halen really done since Sammy and Mike left?
1 reunion tour with Roth? That’s it people! Yes classic Van Halen was great and the term here is was!
That’s why it’s called CLASSIC!
It’s too bad that the so called “fans” who voice their opinion on here think Van Halen is only Roth,Eddie, Alex, and Mike.
There was 2 other guys named Sammy and Gary who left their mark.
Sammy being the one who gave them 4 #1 albums and much more commercial success.
Chickenfoot is just a reminder to those who sit at home and don’t make music anymore. It’s not about Sammy and Mike getting revenge, it’s showing that music is a gift and giving that gift to those people who want it. Not recycled tunes from 1978-1984 and forgetting the era from 1985-1998.
When all of you understand that, the better off you will be!

Well said Harry!!!!!!!!

there’s alot of assholes commenting - Sammy is still kickin ass at 62 - CD is pretty fucking solid - Van Halen, Van Hagar, Chickenfoot - it’s all good ya mofo’s

I like the comment about the playing the same old music over and over. I totally agree.
Eddie claims to have been working on all kinds of new music. Where is it?
I paid up for the last VH tour and the classics were even poorly executed and Dave’s voice was gone. What else is left when you are too old to do your jumping clown show. Personally, I thought they sucked. Wolfie in VH, give me a break–It was pathetic to watch.
Sammy has heart and is rocking for all the right reasons. Sammy kept VH music and fans alive when Eddie had his head up his butt.
In between tours, Eddie does not even aknowedge his fans. It is all about the money for Eddie. He is truly a head case.
Guitar Hero should carry them for awhile. No need to risk the reputation on new music now.
