Satriani was smoke, but it sounds like Sammy was having a bad night.

  2. Mitch says:

    nice. . . .

I used to love when Ed and Sammy would jam. One way to rock or on can’t drive 55. . . .
why did that stop after the 5150 tour?

  3. Pete says:

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  4. Travis Bruce says:

Man, they really sucked it up on this video. Hope they do better then this or this tour will be a nightmare. Sammy, take some vocal lessons or something.

  5. Cabo says:

“Future In The Past” is my favorite song on the record. It has both good music & good lyrics.

  6. Tman says:

OUCH….Maybe Sam was tired? The band sounded great. Even the Foot can have a bad night you VanHagar fans.

  7. Bluesbro says:

As cell phone / handheld video and audio goes this is great. I have to agree with Travis … Sammy’s voice is sounding a bit overused right about now. Still, awesome stuff. This is such a great project for Joe, who is still one of the greatest rock guitarists in the world … as powerful and vital as he ever has been.

  8. Pete says:

Same old stuff…Sammy’s lyrics, Sammy’s singing.

After reading all this stuff, I have to say I think the lyrics are really cool on CF, so I can only chalk it up to someone who really doesn’t like him.

As for the attached, I’ve been watching the man for years, and this is Sammy. I’m not sure if it’s the audio quality that people can’t relate to, but better or worse, like him or not, this sounds like Sammy. If you don’t like him, I respect that, but hey…this is Sammy.

Frankly, it’s great to hear something so strong and vital. It sounds exciting and new, yet kind of familiar too.

I suppose if you go looking for diamonds you find diamonds, and if you go looking for dirt, well, you know how it goes.

NICE. I saw them at Fillmore in San Francisco and they were great. Sammy sounded great. It was also the first part of the tour. Can wait to see them in Tahoe and then in Berkekey in Sept!

I actually saw both of Sammys shows in Tahoe Cinco de Mayo Weekend with the Wabos. One of the last Wabo shows for awhile. I have seen Sammy MANY times and he typically does the same set,a dndoesnt sound like he does vocal warm ups, just goes out and has a good time. However, this time, he was ON FIRE! Vocals were the best I have EVER heard him. Sounded like on the record and he played so many off beat old tracks from his resume it was AMAZING. Im sure he is having a bad night in these videos. Also, the guy will be 62 this year. Traveling the world and having to put on a 2 hour show almost every night after flying to different cities? I think we can cut home boy some slack.

    TO THE FOOT!

Deep Purple ain`t easy to sing man,Sammy did fine,-it was the “encore don`t forget.Satch has never given a bad performance on stage ever. I`m sure it`s the quality of the recording, but i think mike could be louder,(i have the same complaint with “Pino Palladino”-THEWHO`s new bass player as well)no biggie. The “Foot” is swingin`&the crowd was digggn`it.I`m guilty of being skeptical as hell when CF
came out,(”the other ones” with better guitar&drums)now not so much.Guess I`ll have to see`m now. It`s the best material
I`ve heard Sammy do since “little white lies”He&Mike have the perfect vehicle now.I wish`m the best.OF COURSE,when =VH=
comes out, I`ll probably forget all about the”FOOT”no offense.

    Sammy sounds like hell

  12. Big J says:

Sammy has this Cabo Wabo I’m a badass now attitude, I don’t know what he’s trying to be but he’s not being himself. If you look at his shows with Van Halen he came across as a genuine rocker. Now he just seems like he’s playing the role, as if he’s trying to prove something when he doesn’t have to. He’s allready a famous singer who should just get to writing good lyrics like he did with Van Halen and just let it out. On this Chickenfoot thing I think him and Mike are portraying a lot of “fake fun” where they laugh at everything. They did that in VH but it didn’t feel as if they were acting. The Chickenfoot album was ok, some of the songs really jam. But with Chad going back to the Peppers and Sammy half assing the lyrics I don’t see this band ever living up to its potential. Can’t wait for the new VH album cause once that comes out we won’t even care about Chickenfoot. I am glad Chickenfoot is doing well so far and I do hope they do another album and reach their potential.

  13. Jor-L5150 says:

the audio is tinny - sam sounded pretty good imo , it was the closer and he only ever belts out lyrics till he’s exhausted .

i want to see them in bigger places with better sound/acoustics - as i want to hear mike get to shine

  14. Jor-L5150 says:

chromeboy3000 has some pretty good clips !
those other tracks were very nice.

  15. mad anthony says:

you can see the marshalls behind striani

  16. DiamondDLR says:

Agree that Sam doesn’t sound as good as he normally does. Sounds like he has a cold, flying across the pond will do that to people. You can hear the congestion when he’s just talking. For the most part, his singing is still fine, even with the cold.

The band sounds amazing. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, these four guys together kick ass.

  17. 50yrold fan says:

Big J, what new VH album are you talking about? I’ve been waiting for 10 years for one.

  18. pete says:

i hope there isnt any hardcore dave roth guys bashing sammy because of his voice, talk about throwing stones in a glass house.LOL

  19. Cam Winston says:

I don’t care for Hwy Star, so I didn’t even listen to the embedded clip and I have to say, Sam sounds pretty darn amazing in the other clips - the pipes are as outstanding as ever. Maybe everyone’s posting their comment based on the last songs of the setlist.

Can’t wait for the new VH album cause once that comes out we won’t even care about…

Over the years, we’ve filled in the blank with:

    Tribe of Juda
    Sammy Hagar
    Sammy Hagar and the Waboritas
    The Other Half
    Planet Us
    Extreme

    …and this year’s version: Chickenfoot

Allow me to speak for many when I say “Can’t wait for the a VH album, but until that time, should it ever com,I’m going to enjoy the music that ______ gives us and not waste my time (like VH has) dwelling on the past or shilling for something that may never be”.

  20. Rocko says:

    Rock on Foot!!!

  21. Top Jimmy says:

Avenida Revolution was off the chain!

  22. Rich says:

Rock on Cam Winston, thats such a great attitude to have.

I saw the Foot last night. Sure it wasn’t a huge venue, but it was big enough and the fans absolutely loved it - people were wearing Hagar, Van Halen, Chili Peppers and Satriani t-shirts and all looked like they were there to have some fun. Until Van Halen comes out with new material or ever comes to the UK, we have to fill the gap with other bands. I for one am grateful, because that was the first and maybe the only time i’ll ever see Sammy and Mike live in person!

  23. Michael says:

    Great post Cam Winston!

  24. Rod says:

I always thought that Sammy over acts a bit when playing the guitar……….this just confirmed it. LOL

    Satriani is a monster!

  25. phillster says:

Hey “CAM”-WE ALL enjoy what`s happening
NOW-(CKFT,Xtreme,=VH=?:)THE “GLASS” is FINALLY “1/2 FULL”.
I`ts the most optomistic time in the =VH=world in a long time, embrace it.When ROTH left i followed his career just as
“feverishly” as VanHagar.Neither of`em disappionted.I`ve been waitin`forLED ZEPPELIN to put out an “album”for`bout
    30yrs-(came REAL close in `07:),but it doesn`t mean I won`t
buy&listen to EVERY “SOLO” project each member`s done since:)+I hate to admit it,but I AM old enough to remember buying “3LOCKBOX”&”FAIRWARNING”(albums)summer`82.changed my life.BOTTOMLINE,every member past&present has made a VALID contribution to=VH=&R&R-Vanhagar fans get what they want(CF)&=VH=fans get what they want.`85 all over again. The more things change, the more they stay the same;)
CHFT are great, but the prospect of a new album with ROTH
is just to tempting to ignore as always.Read”CRAZYFROMTHE HEAT&”THEVANHALENSAGA”you`ll see that “management” had a
BIG reason behind the last 15yrs of Inproductivity.
    P.S. KIMBERELY, R U OUT THERE?:)

  26. phillster says:

DEEP PURPLE KICKS ASS!!! give “MACHINE HEAD” a listen to;)triple dog dare ya`

  27. Rubbing Wit Da Debbol says:

Mitch, same here. When I look back at how tight Ed and Sam were on stage and how much fun they had together, it’s hard to believe that they’re not friends anymore.

Yeah, Sam does sound a bit worn. Gotta give the guy props though for being out there touring at age 61. He looks like he dropped a little weight, too. I’m looking forward to seeing bawkbawkfoot in September.

  28. eric wolbert says:

I saw them the 26th of June in Holland, and they really were awsome, also Sam’s voice was OK ! Only pity they didn’t play any Van Halen/ Satriani songs.
Chickenfoot rocks, Van Halen rules !

    Eric

  29. Bluesbro says:

Turning Left courtesy of Chromeboy again - Sounds like Sammy’s voice recovered, and Satch is SMOKIN’
