Here’s a pretty cool Cabo San Lucas satellite map, courtesy of WikiMapia, that will hopefully inspire you to plan a trip down there!  Move your cursor around to pan one way or the other. Move it over the different locations and information will appears. On the left are controls to zoom in & out. It’s so detailed that you can even see people if you zoom in all the way!

3) Redhead Booze Cruise & Beach Party:

Sammy Hagar fans host a Redhead Beach Party & a Redhead Booze Cruise (or two) every year during the week of Sammy’s Birthday Bash. The money raised is for a non-profit organization called Amigos de los Niños. They provide quality health care in Los Cabos for children.

4) Fresno’s Cabo Wabo Cantina opens this Friday.

From The Frenso Bee:

Cabo Wabo comes to Fresno
Creator Sammy Hagar is expected to visit soon.

By Mike Osegueda / The Fresno Bee

Cabo Wabo — at 3950 N. Cedar Ave., Suite 101, in the Granite Park complex - opens tonight for three private nights, before its public grand opening at 11 a.m. Friday. The cantina is the creation of rocker Sammy Hagar (formerly of Van Halen), who started the restaurant, bar and live music venue in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. There’s a second location in Lake Tahoe. Fresno’s Wabo is the third.

For the grand-opening festivities, Aaron Hagar, Sammy’s son, will perform, Granite Park developer Milt Barbis says. Barbis also says Cabo Uno, the house band from the original Cabo Wabo location, will play here soon.

Hagar himself also can be expected in Fresno soon, says Barbis, though the date is being kept a secret. It should be within the first month. Hagar friend Michael Anthony, the ex-Van Halen bass player, is expected to be in Fresno next week. Part of the allure of Cabo Wabo is that Hagar’s star power attracts drop-in guests.

“Fresno has always been good to [Hagar],” Barbis says. “So he’s really excited to do this for the city.”

5) Sammy Hagar open’s “Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill” at Maui’s Kahului Airport

The Hawaiian Islands’ casual, beach environment and Hagar’s personal flare inspired the atmosphere and ambience of Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill. Signed memorabilia from the artist’s personal collection adorn the walls surrounding the bar. Sammy Hagar, Van Halen, and other rock and surf inspired music provides the backdrop.

“Music and dining are two of my great passions. Our menu is the result of recipes and advice I’ve received from some of my favorite friends, the celebrated chefs I’ve met in my travels across America. Working with HMSHost to develop Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill has been an unparalleled positive experience,” said Sammy Hagar.

Sammy Hagar will dedicate his profits from this restaurant to local community children’s charities through the Hagar Family Foundation. Guests can enjoy a great meal and know that together they have made a difference to local children in need.

You know, if it weren’t for Van Halen, this guy would be
washing dishes at some Denny’s restraunt.

  2. BlindBubbaCheeks says:

    Or peddlin’ Red Rocker Dildos.

  3. TheManTheMyth says:

RichAssMoFo. I get jeolous of his wallet size when I read this stuff.

  4. tim stone says:

You know, if it weren’t for Van Halen, this guy would be

Yeah and if was’nt for him keeping the VH name and legacy going strong Van Halen would be “Whatever happened to ?”

  5. Brian says:

    This Sammy news is BORING!

  6. Nat says:

I suspect Sammy is a lot more business savvy than the VH brothers are. I have a feeling he’d be doing just fine without them. We just wouldn’t have as much to argue about, or we’d be arguing about something else if he was never around.

  7. Travis says:

from what I remember he was doing pretty well before he joined VH.

  8. kyle thompson says:

Not really.. The guy only had one platnum solo album to his name before he joined VH.

  9. robbyvenice says:

Sammy has always had a strong sense of self promotion and saavy…I am just jealous of his succes , as we all are….and it is true…if he didnt join Van Halen they would have probably released an album with that singer from the 80’s , that ‘goodbhye to you’ chick…if they even pulled it together that much….Gotta stay busy or people forget

  10. theREALchris says:

VH made him more popular than he ever could have done solo. He wouldn’t even have a Cabo Wabo brand without them. Early on, all of VH bought into what is now his Cabo Cantina in Cabo. He bought them out though and it’s now all his. Sammy news isn’t boring, what’s boring is coming here and finding only Sammy news. Love Sammy and Van Hagar, but what the hell is VH doing right now?!?!?

  11. kyle thompson says:

    Well said Chris!

  12. Dirty Duck says:

I’m so sick about hearing about sammy. Why is this any news at all for VH fans? Not many give a shit about him..his tequila…or his airport bars. Now i understand why so many people compare him to Jimmy Buffett. That’s exactly who he’s become…

  13. robbyvenice says:

Nah…he’s just capitalizing on his successes….i would too….but i just wanna say to Eddie…..PULL YOUR HEAD OUTTA YOUR ASS!!!!! YOU ARE WHERE YOU ARE BECAUSE YOU HAVE FANS!!! AND IF YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING THROW US A BONE AND LET US KNOW!!!!!!!!!! Thank You.

  14. Keith says:

Why is everbody so down with Sammy??? At least he’s doing something. Maybe you all should email the VH’s and tell them to DO SOMETHING !!! Why are they so secretive ? They have no news. Nothing. It’s over. Happy trails to the bank that’s all.

  15. Dan says:

just cause some of you don’t care about sammy others do… and because the VH camp isn’t giving us any news, this site would be relitavly empty if it wern’t for sammy news.

so sammy news is better than no news…and i dig sammy so i dont mind it at all.

I also agree with what a couple other people said, it wern’t for sammy, you guys would either be hating on some other replacement singer, or Van Halen would be one of those long forgotten 80’s bands

  16. TheManTheMyth says:

Eddie said in reference to all of us bickering back and forth
“Because I have a life!” I see his point totally Mon.

  17. Big Al says:

It wouldn’t have mattered who the singer was after 1984 because the band was riding high!! Sammy was the LUCKY guy. Sam said in a interview he was doing OK as a solo artist but it wasn’t until he joined VH that he was able to afford the Life style he always wanted.
Gary didn’t work out because we were left with the SOUR TASTE when we found out Dave wasn’t in, when we thought he was.
Sam did great for VH but you can only take so many info-mercials about Cabo Wabo and tha Cantina!!Ed has is own brand of equipment but it’s not shoved down your THROAT!!!!!(no pun intended)
    Hence the backlash for Sam!!!
If you’re a TRUE VH FAN, you should know by now they are very private people and when they’re ready to tell us about a new album and tour we will be ready to ROCK OUR ASS’S OFF because WE ARE VH FANATICS!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Pascal says:

You know the difference between Sam and Dave?
Sam can sing ! you tend to forget that!

  19. robbyvenice says:

I hope you are right Al…I love Sammy , I love Van Halen and I love Roth…But A girlfriend of mine knew Eddie and Alex in the eighties and , well……I hope you ARE RIGHT!!!….

  20. ClubfootKolby says:

Sammy carried this band for ten great years. And you know it kills Alex and Eddie that he keeps making so much money selling tequila, and money he is making off the bar they co owned with Sammy. Sammy also just made 80 million off of his tequila.Eddie has to make us pay 125 bucks for the shows to try and catch up with the Red Rocker.

  21. robbyvenice says:

Hey Clubfootkolby ( great name by the way-sounds like an 80’s hard rock DJ ) I dont know that he carried Van Halen…but,,,,He probably motivated them to write and tour…a picture is starting to come together about the brothers …at least Eddie…I think he may be a HUGE procrastinator and Sammy is a hardworking Rocker that pushed them to be better than they were…

  22. kyle thompson says:

“Sammy carried this band for ten great years.” If it wasn’t for Eddie and Al Sammy would have had no career at all! Pleae keep in mind the guy had only ONE platnum album (VOA) before he joined Van Halen. And the crap he has released since he left the band is pathetic. He has a lot to be thankful to the brothers for. Without them, there would be no Cabo Wabbo, bars, clothing, or whatever junk he had had to peddle to make up for the bad music he was putting out.

  23. Lisa says:

“…Pleae keep in mind the guy had only ONE platnum album (VOA) before he joined Van Halen. And the crap he has released since he left the band is pathetic. He has a lot to be thankful to the brothers for. Without them, there would be no Cabo Wabbo, bars, clothing, or whatever junk he had had to peddle to make up for the bad music he was putting out.”

And that Kyle is why 10,000 fans rich and poor alike spend thousands of dollars every October to travel to the Sammy Hagar Birthday Bash?

You should go one year so that you know who you are talking about. Sammy is all about the fans. He plays the music he wants because he doesn’t have to conform for money. He parks out front of his Cantina and shakes everyones hand on the way in, who by the way are drinking a free shot of tequila and waiting to be admitted to a free show. This annual event has gotten so huge that the lines for the shows begin over 24 hrs in advance, and the ones unfortunate enough not to get tickets in (more numerous than those who do) watch a huge screen outside the bar. Sammy feeling terrible that people are traveling so far and not getting in has imposed strict rules, you cannot buy your way in, the tickets are stamped with your license number at the moment they are handed to you, and the number of shows grows each year to handle the increasing masses 18 years later. A huge amount of money at this time goes into Sammy’s charities and to helping the local residents.

Sammy is quoted as saying something like, life doesn’t get any better than this. On those nights when I’m sitting at home, the old lady is asleep, I have a smoke, and if I want to I drive down to the bar have a drink of my own tequila, and if I feel like it sing a few songs. Who could ask for more?

Sammy is the most personable, caring, star I have ever had the chance to meet. Do not get me wrong, I am a VH fan also and nothing was greater to me than when my favorite singer merged with my favorite band, but Van Halen has always seemed to me to be aloof to their fans, they did not even show up to their own induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

  24. theREALchris says:

They didn’t show at RnR HOF for a couple reasons, not the least of which was Ed in the hospital/rehab. I’m a HUGE Sammy fan and would love to make it to Cabo for all of Lisa’s reasons and many of my own. Sammy has been in the biz for over 30 years on his own, in bands, whatever it took. He has a lot to thank the brothers for, sure. Don’t we all? If you ask me, the main problem with Sam’s new music is that he has so many new influences, so many different directions he’s either been pulled, or is pulling from himself, that he’s just not making the same music anymore. Good, or bad, aparently We are the judges. I say good. Then again, I’m not too blinded by favoritism to know when a track is bad either.

  25. Deja Vu says:

Lets put the facts on the table and stop the BS. Sammy made 4 studio albums with VH, all platnimun plus, #1s. Dave had 1 number one with VH, 1984. Dave sold out or crossed over into country with the laughable strummin with the devil. Dave’s solo career was a flop, as was his vegas, yes vegas, act that lasted 1 week. As was his EMS career and his stint on WNBC when he replaced Howard Stern for about a month. Stevie Vai was the only highlight of his early band.
Sammy did and still makes millions from his solo music. Montrose, One way to rock, I cant drive 55 etc.. Every endeavour Sammy embarks on is a success. He sponsors the KMA Indy Car racing team, does countless benefits and charities, and always appreciates his fans. Sammy has always thrown a little country in some of his music now and then, even with VH, FWYS from ou812. He believes in his fans sharing in the good life, livin it up with him and any musician that wants to jam, from Slash to Toby, to Mikey, to Neil Young, to etc… He interacts with his fans and puts on free shows. His tickets are usuaully 60 bucks or less when he does charge admission. Lets not forget he sold 80% of CW for 80 million to Skye Compari. He doesnt need to play, he plays because he loves rock and roll. Most of you critics never even listened to Red Voodoo or Not 4 Sale. You just shoot from the hip, putting his music down. Eddie and Dave perform strictly for money. When ever EVH is hurtin, he tours. No albums, No new stuff, just a tour and then 4 years with nothing. Sammy pulled Eddie out of a dark place in 04, FOR THE FANS!!!!!!!! Not because he wanted to tour with VH. Eddie didnt do crap since VH3 with Gary, and that tanked. Sammys played for fans every year, doing Halen with Mikey and Rockin Out.
One thing thats a fact and you cant debate it. Dave and Eddie couldnt get along after 84 and VH needed a singer. 85 Sammy stepped up and blew us away with Eddie. 5150, F.U.C.K. cmon. 1996 Sammy was thrown out after the ass kickin BALANCE tour and that was it for VH. Gary, Nope. Axel, Nope. who???????Nobody. 2004 Sammy steps up again, and we get to see VH in all their glory for a split second. The reunion tour is great, but wheres mikey??? I am a full fledged VH fan period. EVH should be #1 on the top 50 guitarists of all time in my oppinion. His rips are unbelievable and we all know it. I was pissed when Dave left and put out crap like just a giggilo. But lets tell it like it is. Sammy never needed VH, VH needed Sammy.

  26. kyle thompson says:

Deja Vu I appreciate your passion but you really do have selective perception. I NEVER said Sammy was a bad guy, never cared about the fans, or didn’t throw a good party.. But make no mistake about it, he wouldn’t be able to do the things you mentioned above if he hadn’t of joined Van Halen PERIOD!! I am not sure where you are getting your numbers for the “millions of records” sold solo but go check billboard if you don’t believe me.

You are dead on about Dave! He lost his way after Eatem’ and Smile and sold his music out down the line. That is a whole other topic though. Both guys at the peak of their success were when they were with Van Halen. Four #1 studio albums are correct sir. The band was set up for success after 1984.. 10 million albums sold which peaked at #2.(it never reached #1)and a sold out tour. Eddie wanted to take the band in a more commercial direction and he found the guy to go along with him.. And a great choice I might add. Sammy has a great voice. And here is where you get into opinion of which version of the band you like better.

And for the record I do like some of Sammy’s OLDER material. The songs you menitoned, One Way to Rock, 55, Swept Away are all great stuff. I have seen the guy several times including 1979 when he opened up for Boston. He puts on a good show. I just personally just like Van Halen better with Dave.

Again, I love the passion. That is what makes Van Halen fans the greatest in the world. No matter which version of the band you like.

  27. Deja Vu says:

Yes, Kyle, VH fans are the best in the world, which only makes sense since VH is the greatest rock and roll band in the world. I mistakenly wrote 1984 was number 1, what i meant to say was Dave had one #1 single with VH, Jump from 1984. I never said Sammy sold Millions of solo albums, I said he did and still does make millions off his solo music, including his albums with montrose, and you can check those numbers out.
The point of this blog and the cosmic universal fashion blog above seems to be wether or not sammys owes VH for his success and why put Sammy news on VHND. As Sammy stated, I made more from Cabo Wabo then my solo career and VH career combined. So the question is How did Cabo Wabo come about. Im sure we all know the story about Sammy driving in Cabo shortly after the 5150 tour ended and seeing a local drunk staggering across the Road, and saying look at this guy, hes doin the cabo wabble. He immediately called EVH and said Eddie, think of make it last(montrose) and start playing. Im flying back tommorow and I have some great lyrics. The rest is history. Sammys would have wrote the song anyways wether he was with VH or not. Its the same riff as Make it last which Sammy and Ronnie wrote decades before. The Cabo Wabo Cantina was Sammys baby, not EVHs, thats why they were so easily bought out, they didnt care. Sammy would have been successful with or without VH, afterall he was born to rock and built to last. Dave has proven he cant be successful without VH and EVH has proven he cant be successful without Dave or Sammy. Sammy has proven he can be successful as a solo artist before and after VH.
Nothing would make me happier than to see dave cut a new album with VH. But they need to do it RIGHT NOW. The time is right and we waited long enough. Dont hold your breath, as we all remember VH GH vol.1 with me wise magic and stuff no more. Like eddie told you before Dave, Baby steps Dave, baby steps.
The bottom line, no pun intended (skyscraper) is I would rather read about sammy cuttin a new album with Mikey, and Billy Duffy among others, than Dave singing in Portuguese.

  28. Laime Ithil says:

Well, it’s sad to see how people can talk about things that doesn’t matter.

    It’s only Rock n roll.

You like it, or you hate it. That’s all.

  29. Falcon0765 says:

Rarely do I comment but I think I have valuable input here.
    A different perspective.

I am a VH fan. Let me qualify that by saying I named my son after my two favorite guitar players SRV and Edward.

That having been said I think we can make an argument that without Sammy or Dave the brothers Van Halen could not have done what they accomplished. We have seen VH without Sam or Dave. Anyone remember Gary Cherone? I think we all collectively wanna blot that from our memories. I for one do.

Now who can argue that Dave was great when he was in the band? Simply No one. Then came Sammy and for those Dave fans out there sorry… SAMMY ROCKED. Fact is Van Halen brothers when combined with a solid song writer can crank out some awesome arena party rock (Dave) or Solid Rock Music (Sammy) There is not a way to say one was better then the other becuase money (record sales) and soul in the music cannot be measured against those standards. I for one think Mikey was treated unfairly because he is close to Sammy. Dave lets his mouth get him in to much trouble and Edward could do with a small kick in the butt to get his head and butt wired together. I love Edward and have the utmost respect for his talent. He and Mikey need to be locked in a room until they square this crap away. Even if they do not continue as band mates they have years of friendship that does not need to sail out the window.
    Van Halen Dave era… Awesome.
Van Halen Sammy era. .. Awesome

    Long Live VH.

  30. Lindsey says:

Woohoo!!! I’ll be down there for the birthday bash, just happened to be the same week I will be down there. :) How early should I show up?

  31. RulesAreForFools says:

Show on the 6th (in Cabo) has been cancelled.

  32. Jo Dee says:

Where will the Redhead Beach Party be held on Sunday? How’s the weather?
