Band name: two words, starts with ‘V’ …

Thursday, 8 March 2007

Van Revolver“And now, ladies and gentlemen, in honor of their induction tonight into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, please welcome to the stage … VVVVVVVaaaan … er, uh … ahem … I mean, VVVVVVelvet Revolver!”

So here’s how next Monday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony is shaping up: Sammy, Mike and Dave are expected to attended. Conflicting reports in recent days have indicated that Ed and Al willwon’twill … wait, scratch that—won’t attend.

Even more underwhelming: Rather than mark the occasion by performing together—as is customary for acts being inducted into the Rock Hall—Van Halen will apparently pass on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and will instead be feted during a performance from Velvet Revolver.

In related news, VH1 will carry the first-ever live broadcast of the induction ceremony, which is set to take place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. The live program will air at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on VH1 Classic and MHD (MTV Networks’ high-definition music channel), and a two-hour highlight edition will premiere March 17 at 9 p.m., according to a press release.

Meanwhile, for those keeping track, today’s New York Post gossip column, Page 6, claims that, according to Rolling Stone, the group’s recently postponed semi-reunion tour was sidelined due to Eddie’s ongoing love affair with Smoking Loon Merlot.

Let’s see….Tour with Dave, make your fans estatic, and make millions in the process, or lock yourself up in your mansion and drink a case of ripple like a rich wino…. Nice call Eddie !! Have a nice life bud.

WT_ !!!Alex should go and the hell with Eddie if he won’t go, this is once in a lifetime deal!!! Sammy or Dave should bring one of their guitar players or Sammy can play guitar and have an awesome jam… actually I can play some of their songs too, I’ll bring my guitar, the solos will sound more Stevie Ray but what the hell…Eddie, have fun at home, bottoms up !

No, Sammy is not better. David is not good, he’s GREAT! The music with Sammy is more pop oriented, it’s all a matter of opinion and taste. Dave was the whole package — vocally, great to look at, funny, incrediably entertaining and filled with energy and style. That’s Eddie’s problem, he wants to be the center of attention, the main focus of the band and he doesn’t want anyone causing distraction away from him. That’s why Sammy worked. If Sammy was just another Joe Blow on the street, a person would walk right past him. No offense to Sammy, because he made good music with the Van Halen guys. As a solo artist, I can only name two Sammy Hagar songs — and I don’t think those songs were that sensational.

Rose Anne, if “it’s all a matter of opinion and taste,” then please don’t speak for the rest of us, OK?

I can’t believe there are people still arguing over the Dave vs. Sammy thing. Dear god.

I dont care if its Dave or Sammy out front I would have loved to have seen either pne of them out front with van halen when they came down here to Australia.
