The Los Angeles punk rock band Jughead’s Revenge once requested that their music publishing company be named after the exalted one himself – David Lee Roth.
During a recent appearance on The Paltrocast, Randall Wixen [the founder of Wixen Music Publishing, Inc. and Wixen Music UK Ltd.,] shared the DLR story with host Darren Paltrowitz.
“One of our groups a long time ago, Jughead’s Revenge, they needed to come up with a name for their publishing company. They were starting a publishing company,” said Wixen. “I said ‘Send me three name choices in order of preference.’ The first one was ‘David Lee Roth Is God Music’ and I said, ‘I don’t think we can do that name unless we ask David Lee Roth.’
And Wixen did just that.
“Somehow I got his fax number,” Wixen said. “I sent him a fax and said ‘Jughead’s Revenge wants to call their publishing company ‘David Lee Roth Is God Music.’ Is that okay with you?’ And he just wrote back on it ‘God bless you’ and sent it back.”
