George Lynch Recalls Early Van Halen Memories

George Lynch opened up about his earliest memories of a “hungry”, “on fire”, and “vicious” club-era Van Halen in a recent interview.

Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) told the Van Halen New Desk‘s Jeff Goebel he saw Van Halen for the first time at The Golden West Ballroom in Norwalk, California. Lynch said it was the best show he had ever seen by the band.

Later in the interview, Lynch told the story of when he and Eddie Van Halen witnessed Eddie’s future tapping technique done by Canned Heat’s Harvey Mandel at The Starwood Club in Hollywood, and dispels the myth that Eddie and Randy Rhoads were rivals in the early days.

When guitarist from the Los Angeles area are asked who the hottest guitar players were on The Sunset Strip in the late 1970’s, the names Van Halen, Rhoads and Lynch are indelibly linked.  Lynch is the only living and still active player in that trio. Check out the amazing Van Halen analysis and insights from one of the greatest guitarist of the 1980’s George Lynch in the vide below from Goebel’s YouTube channel Final Resonance TV!
