Eddie Van Halen Immortalized With 1978-Era Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure

by VHND — updated October 7, 2023 Leave a Comment

Edward Van Halen scored a couple of unexpected number-one hits recently. Not with a new song, but with a couple of HOT new collectibles… the guitar god has been immortalized with his own Funko POP vinyl figure  – not once, but twice!

Wolfgang announced the original Eddie Van Halen Funko Pop two years ago. “Dad signed off on this Funko way back in 2019 and it’s wonderful to see it finally come to fruition. So stoked with how it turned out!”

Rock fans made it the hottest-selling Van Halen item in years.

Now there’s a new one, released this weekend. The Eddie Van Halen 1978 Funko Pop: Rocks! vinyl figure.

Certain years in music are synonymous with changings of the guard. Any true guitar fan recognizes that 1978 introduced a guitar hero the likes of which had never been seen — or heard — before. Three years gone but forever in our hearts and ears — it’s only fitting that Funko honors the 1978 version of EVH.

The new one is a Limited Edition, with many fewer units produced. And it’s a Van Halen Store / Funko EXCLUSIVE. It’s not available in stores or anywhere else.

The new ’78 EVH Funko Pop perfectly captures young Eddie Van Halen on his first world tour… happily tapping away on his black and white original “Franky” guitar.

Fans proudly share their photos and ideas for showing off their EVH Funko Pops in all its glory. They can be displayed in an office, on a desk, bookshelf, bar, fireplace mantle, man cave, dashboard, etc.

Some people get an extra one to keep in the box as a collector’s item. Some even convert them into a hanging ornament for their car’s rearview mirror or for a Christmas tree ornament.

What the heck is a Funko Pop? Why the craze?

Funko Pops are giant-headed, big-eyed plastic figurine replicas of your favorite people and characters from pop culture. Funko’s business involves licensing popular intellectual property from TV, movies, video games, pop culture, and yes… rock stars and musicians. Translating those cultural icons into cute toys. While the company sells various products, they’re most known for their Funko’s Pop! vinyl figure toy series.

The original EVH Funko Pop is still available at Van Halen Store

For many years now, Funko Pops are perhaps the most “I need that!” fad toy on the market.

People enjoy Funk Pop figures in many different ways. Some collectors never take their Pops out of the box, hoping they’ll be worth more someday, while others remove them to create impressive displays or bring a pop of fun to their workspace. Some people buy them just to resell them for a higher price.

Interestingly, they are very popular for people who don’t typically buy toy-like products. People enjoy collectibles like these because they love having something tangible that represents a joy they’ve experienced or something that they’re nostalgic for.

If you’re interested in getting one (or more) EVH Pops, Van Halen Store’s got you covered! And they’re the only place on earth that carries both Eddie Van Halen Funko Pops.
