Come hell or highwater, David Lee Roth will show up for his interview. Even when the bridge over those very waters isn’t working.

This story takes place circa 1988 while Roth’s tour landed in Florida. To promote the upcoming show, Roth was scheduled to appear on WYNF-FM’s Ron & Ron Morning Show in Tampa Bay. Unfortunately, Roth’s limo got stuck on the Howard Frankland Bridge. But that wasn’t going to stop Diamond Dave. He decided he’d jog the five miles to the station! Eventually, Roth was escorted to the radio station by the local police and arrived at the 95 YNF studios where he proceeded to entertain Tampa listeners live in front of their naked steaming ears!

Get the whole story in the video below, which was uploaded to YouTube by Ed Yarb aka “Fast Eddie” who was there to witness it all go down.

“David Lee Roth was on his way into the Ron and Ron show, coming in from Tampa, when all of a sudden… the following events actually occurred, and this is a true story,” Yarb posted along with the video. “Thanks to Walt Bob Marsicano and Billy the phone freak Owens for keeping the history alive in audio and photographs.”
