Wolfgang Van Halen has a personal favorite Eddie Van Halen guitar solo and it’s one you probably wouldn’t have predicted.
During a recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho with Chris Jericho, Wolfgang was given the difficult task of having to choose the best of all solos his dad recorded.
“I like all of it, so take this with a grain of salt,” he said. “A solo I think is really fun is the solo on ‘Amsterdam’, which is on Balance. That’s just a wacky, fun solo and I think that’s worth another look, if you haven’t listened to that song in a while.”
Wolfgang was also asked by Jericho which of his guitar solos he is most fond of. He chose the solos on “Take A Bow” and “Right?” from the brand new Mammoth WVH album Mammoth II. Wolfgang used both his father’s legendary Frankenstein guitar and original Marshall amp rig on the “Take A Bow” solo.
“Right now, Take a Bow is something I’m really proud of,” Van Halen offered. “It’s a different sort of solo for me – very long-form in comparison to anything I’ve done before.”
