Wolfgang Van Halen says he’s looking forward to the upcoming remastered reissues of the often-overlooked Sammy Hagar years of Van Halen.
“That era doesn’t get enough respect I don’t I don’t think,” said Wolfgang during a recent interview with Oklahoma’s KATT FM. “There’s a lot of amazing songs and just, obviously, brilliant guitar playing on all of that stuff.”
Van Halen’s 1993 live album Live: Right Here, Right Now will make its vinyl debut on Record Store Day as a limited edition 4-LP set. This will be the first in a series of upcoming vinyl remasters from the Hagar era which was decided by Alex Van Halen with Wolfgang’s support.
“Al is obviously…he’s the head honcho when it comes to making decisions,” said Wolfgang. “But I am a part of that when it comes to…obviously, I default to him on anything that he thinks is the right thing to do but when it comes to decision making or at least just kind of helping out, yeah I am sort of what would have been my dad’s vote for stuff. So Al and I are kind of that team but all in all he’s the guy.”
Wolfgang also talked about the next Mammoth WVH album, Mammoth WVH’s tour with Alter Bridge, and their summer shows with Metallica. Watch the entire video above.
