Wolfie just can’t win with some folks. Thankfully, he has Rick Beato to shut ’em down!
Wolfgang’s performance of “On Fire” and “Hot For Teacher” on guitar at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in London Saturday (September 3) was so good that there are actually those who feel it was too good to be true. Beato took to YouTube to respond to the doubters.
Beato is a producer/composer/audio engineer and music theorist who produces a popular YouTube series of videos breaking down the greatest songs from the greatest artists in rock. To date, he has over three million subscribers. In his most recent video, Beato counters an email from a viewer who said Wolfgang sounded suspiciously “too good”.
“Wolfgang Van Halen started playing in Van Halen in 2006 when he was 15,” said Beato. “He’s a multi-instrumentalist, he plays every instrument incredibly well. He’s known for being able to play everything. He’s played ‘Hot For Teacher’ probably hundreds of times in Van Halen. Did you notice that his vocals were exactly dead-on? Well, maybe that’s because he sang the background vocals with Eddie when he was replacing Michael Anthony. He was in Van Halen.”
Beato has more to say in the video, which you can watch at the top of the page. Check out his YouTube channel HERE.
