So Gene Simmons thinks rock is dead? Wolfgang Van Halen has something to say about that.
During a recent appearance on New Hampshire’s Rock 101 WGIR FM, host Greg Kretschmar brought up Mammoth WVH’s upcoming 2022 co-headlining tour with Dirty Honey. He asked if Wolfgang and Dirty Honey are out to prove the naysayers like Simmons, who stated in 2014 that rock is dead and has since doubled down on that claim, is wrong.
“Yeah, definitely. It’s very much not dead and I think that’s what we are out here to prove next year,” said Wolfgang. “If someone like Gene Simmons is going to say that rock is dead it’s like, ‘OK, well we’ll take it from ya and show ya how it’s done.”
Mammoth WVH will be heading out on a co-headlining North America tour with Dirty Honey beginning in January. The 29-date “Young Guns Tour” will begin in Chicago at the House of Blues on January 21st and wraps up on March 5th in Indio, California. The two bands will alternate the closing slots throughout the tour.

Wolfgang Going Solo Again On Next Mammoth WVH Album
Wolfgang was asked if his current touring band (guitarists Frank Sidoris and Jon Jourdan, bassist Ronnie Ficarro and drummer Garrett Whitlock) will be part of the second Mammoth WVH studio album or will he do as he did the first time around and perform all of the instruments.
“No, I’m really enjoying how I did it last time,” said Wolfgang. “I’d like to try it again and see how it goes. For now I think it’s a fun thing for me being able to play all the instruments since I don’t really get to all the time.”
Meanwhile, Wolfgang and his band will continue to hit the road in support of the self-titled debut Mammoth WVH album with the latest single from the album “Epiphany” due for release this week.
