Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony are keeping the Hagar era of Van Halen alive with a brand new social media page.
The page, which can be found on Instagram as well as Facebook, will feature vintage footage of Van Halen during Hagar’s time in the band.
“Hey everybody I got some fresh news for ya,” Hagar said in his video message. “Mikey and I been checkin’ out all our vintage footage of stuff we’ve been doin’ over the years with Van Hagar years and all that and we found some of the coolest stuff. And we’re diggin’ and we’re diggin’, we’re finding nuggets every day and we’re gonna share ’em with you!”
Anthony posted his own video message: “Hey, everyone keeps asking us, ‘Why don’t you post more of the Van Hagar years stuff. Well, guess what? You got it! We’re gonna go through, dig through some of the archived stuff, try to find stuff you haven’t seen before – maybe maybe some stuff we hadn’t seen in decades – and throw it up. Maybe post a couple of comments to go along with it.”
For today’s post, Hagar and Anthony shared footage of Van Halen performing “Dreams” in 1993 at Shoreline Amphitheater At Mountain View in Mountain View, California. Along with the video, they offered their thoughts on the performance:
Mikey: For me Dreams was always one of the high points of the show. Sammy singing that high night after night blows my mind!!
Sammy: Every time I hear a live performance of Dreams I shake and scratch my head and wonder what was I thinking singing in that register. The hardest song to sing night after night of any song I’ve written in my life!
