Van Halen’s ‘Somebody Get Me A Doctor’ (US Fest Version) | First Time Reaction!

by Eric Senich — updated April 21, 2021 Leave a Comment

Meet DJ. He’s the newest Van Halen fan thanks to his YouTube co-host MCA. MCA is clearly a man with excellent taste in music.

MCA and DJ have a YouTube show called GetSideways, which features a series of first time reaction videos where the old-school rock fan MCA plays his favorite music for the new-school hip hop fan DJ and vice versa.

For their most recent episode MCA decides to play Van Halen’s “Somebody Get Me A Doctor” for DJ. This version is from the 1983 US Festival, which includes an epic Eddie Van Halen/Alex Van Halen guitar/drum duel along with performances of “Girl Gone Bad” from the band’s upcoming ‘1984’ album and Cream’s “I’m So Glad”.

As you’ll see in the video above DJ is clearly impressed but not surprised since this was actually not the fourth time he’d been exposed to the mighty Van Halen thanks to MCA. In fact, DJ was so impressed he now proudly owns a 1979 Van Halen tour t-shirt. We assume he purchased it from the Van Halen Store by the way (free plug!).

Below are the rest of the Van Halen first time reaction videos from MCA and DJ.
