A recording of Van Halen performing at Pasadena High School in the spring of 1975 has surfaced online.
The video (above) posted to YouTube captures soundboard audio of the band in the high school’s gymnasium in April of ’75. David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony perform a high-energy, eight-song set made up of seven cover songs and one original to finish. Roth can be heard introducing the song to the audience as “I Live With Fools”. This is an early version of what would become “Fools” from Van Halen’s 1980 album ‘Women and Children First’.
Setlist:
- “Chevrolet” (ZZ Top cover)
- “Maybe I’m A Leo” (Deep Purple cover)
- “Brown Sugar” (ZZ Top Cover)
- “We All Had A Real Good Time” (Edgar Winter Group cover)
