The man who performed alongside “The Lizard King” Jim Morrison has just paid tribute to another king: “King Edward”.
Legendary Doors guitarist Robby Krieger has posted a tribute to Eddie Van Halen on his YouTube channel which includes his very own EVH-inspired solo. Prior to showing a previously filmed clip of Krieger performing a two-finger tapping guitar instrumental à la Eddie, he had this to say:
I was so sad to hear about Eddie Van Halen’s passing last week. Then I remembered that a number of years ago I was doing a video that my friend Robert Radler was directing, it was called ‘Turn It Up’, it was all about guitars and guitar players. In one clip I remember I was doing my version of Eddie Van Halen. I looked back and I found it so here it is. My tribute to Eddie Van Halen….Rest in peace, man.

Krieger has publicly stated that Eddie is among his favorite guitarists. In fact, in a 2011 radio interview he was asked what his favorite guitar solo of all time was and stated it was Eddie’s landmark 1978 instrumental “Eruption”.
