David Lee Roth and his new band put on a fantastic show in Vegas last night.
Prior to the Vegas residency kick-off, Roth implied he’d be mixing it up every night in Vegas, and proved true to his word with key changes between Wednesday night’s and Friday night’s shows.
Last night’s show was significantly different from the first night, including six songs not performed during the kick-off show, including a harmonica-flavored version of “Ice Cream Man.” Roth’s voice was in fine form, notably improved from just two nights earlier.
As far as reviews from people who were there, every single social media post we’ve seen from people who attended gave the show glowing reviews. But don’t just take our word for it… watch the footage for yourself, below.
And it was only the second night of his residency. Things seem to be shaping up nicely!

Our friend Tom James was there, and has this to say:
“Ask the 1,200+ DLR fans inside House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Friday night who’s king & they won’t say Elvis. David Lee Roth muted online, non-attending haters with his brand of Thug Pop in a show that left jaws of both hardcore & casual fans on the Mandalay Bay floor. The original 6-pack records were all represented, along with a smattering of solo game-winners. Dave dug deeper for the diehards (“Mean Street”, “Big Train”, “Everybody Wants Some!!”) & made sure to please the un-witting wives (“California Girls”, “Gigolo”, “Just Like Paradise”, “Jump”).
“Minus the marshall arts, Diamond Dave was every bit the showman he was at any point in his 42-year recording career. Bombastic, charming, cool, funny, engaging, all tied together with Vegas-worthy bad-assery. His band was tight & he heaped on the compliments amid introductions that included jokes on drummer Mike Mussleman’s appropriate last name.
“Saturday night awaits & we know a little joint upstairs called House of Blues, where we can “sweat it all out & laugh” … till we can’t get this stuff no more… till March.”
