David Lee Roth had another busy week on the podcasting front and this week he talked Harley Davidson’s and a former flame named “Dottie the Body”.
It all started with the night Roth snuck out to see the classic 1969 film “Easy Rider” starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson.
“That’s almost a national anthem film,” said Roth. “My parents wouldn’t let me go see it so I snuck out in the rain. I was living up north here in Altadena (California). I remember it was raining and I snuck out of the house and I walked almost two miles to the Uptown Theater and paid I think it was two dollars and fifty cents to see ‘Easy Rider’ and [The Rolling Stones movie] ‘Gimme Shelter’”.

From that moment on Roth knew he wanted to own and ride his very own motorcycle. Eventually he became a very famous and very rich rock star and could afford one of his very own and he picked the most “rock star” one to get – a Harley Davidson. It’s the same Harley Roth is seen cruising around the streets of California in the classic video for Van Halen’s “Panama”.
Roth had many care-free days cruisin’ around on that Harley. Unfortunately, some of them were neither care-free nor fall-free. Here’s the first story involving Roth tipping his bike on Sunset Boulevard while he was directly next to a car-full of beautiful Korean women.
“They’re probably going to the Rainbow [Bar & Grill], I might even land one of them. I’m in that right age where that shit could happen, it happened regularly,” said Roth. “And the bike fell over. And I watched them drive off laughing!”

Just when you thought it was safe for Roth to go back on his Harley he tells another hilarious Harley mishap in Part 3 involving Diamond Dave, his Harley Davidson and a very attractive woman known as “Dottie the Body”. It hall happened on a trip they took to the famous Troubadour nightclub in West Hollywood. Dottie got off the back of Roth’s bike just to stand back and watch her rock star date park his Harley like only a rock star can…..very slowly.
“Dottie steps off and you can hear the air go silent,” Roth said. “She is standing there and she’s doin’ that Jayne Mansfield shit [as I’m backing in], getting’ ready for everything to follow….I get it all right and I’m ready to get off and I realize….I realize….that I forgot to put the kickstand down and the fuckin’ bike FALLS!!!!! And I gotta get Dottie to help pick the thing up. OHH FUCK!!!”
