Unearthed Video: Van Halen Live in Montreal, 1982

by VHND — updated December 4, 2018 Leave a Comment

An upgrade of a Van Halen bootleg concert video surfaced this week – Van Halen performing at the Montreal Forum, Oct 27, 1982.

This recording first circulated in bootleg collector circles many years ago, but everyone’s copy was blurry from being generations away from the bootlegger’s master tape.

This week, someone uploaded it to YouTube from a much cleaner source, supposedly from the master. It’s still a bit blurry, but it does look better than we’ve ever seen it before. (This does look about like we’d imagine the master tape would look over 30 years later).

This video is unique in that it’s the only complete performance to ever surface from Van Halen’s 1982 tour that was recorded by a member of the audience. It’s not close-up, but it’s great for getting a look at the entire stage.

Watch Van Halen’s complete Montreal Forum concert in the video embedded above. They did not earn the nickname “The Mighty Van Halen” for nothing.
