Went went straight to Michael Anthony when we wanted to talk Van Halen bootlegs, and what the band might have in its vaults.
In the video below, you can listen to Michael talk with Jeff Hausman from the Van Halen News Desk, about one of the fans’ favorite subjects to ponder. We had a chance to ask Michael about the pro-shot footage from 1979, the pro-shot footage from the Fair Warning tour filmed in Oakland, and more.
Note that this is not a new interview, it’s actually 10 years old. But it’s just as relevant as ever, because the same questions still linger, and Michael’s answers (which many fans haven’t heard) haven’t changed. When we think about it, we realize this is the first interview where a member of Van Halen is grilled on multiple questions about bootlegs and archival footage. In fact, it’s the ONLY interview we can recall when someone sat down with a current or former member of the band and asked him the questions the diehard fans want to know about old concert footage the band might have.
We hope you enjoy this “bootleg” segment from our interview with Michael.
